New P07 .. WOW!
« on: November 08, 2022, 01:53:53 PM »
Havent been around in a bit but I wanted to chime in with how much improved the P07 is over a duty I had ages ago. I mean WOW! the trigger in DA and SA is just wonderful and I love the shape of the new trigger. I didn't own a 9mm and am partial to hammer fired guns so I picked this up expecting to have to do some work on it like I did my old Duty model but .. its excellent right out of the box. I think it even looks better!

Only marginal on the gun ... Mine came with a lanyard loop and I haven't decided if I love it or not. Outside of that ... Glad I picked up another CZ and gave the P07 another go. Loving the gun .. now .. gotta think hard about the loop

Greetings from NJ.  I passed on a deal on an older duty years ago due to reports of frame spread, and waited till the newer 07s and 09s proved to be better.  Mine was a dog when received, but is a decent shooter after an extensive break-in and polishing session. Wife got her own 07 after becoming proficient with mine, and hers was a great shooter right out of box. They're great pistols and i don't hesitate to recommend them, but I also suggest handling before the purchase.
With about 5K rounds through mine and 3K through hers, we've had 3 malfunctions between them; all from a box of "Field and Stream" ammo we picked up on the cheap when prices started to climb. Not much to complain about there.
Congratulations, and enjoy the new addition !

When I got my P07 .40 CZ USA was selling complete 9MM slides.  I bet those were from guns people returned for that frame spread thing.

I'll bet I've had my P07 DUTY .40 too long for them to remember what frame spread was.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Great news for you................  you can purchase a replacement main spring plug without the lanyard loop from CZUSA online for $9.00

My P07 came without the lanyard loop, thank goodness.  But if it did come with the lanyard loop, I would have just replaced it.  Congrats on the new P07.  Love mine.

I'm contemplating getting one myself.   I'm curious:   how is the grip for smaller hands out of the box (ie: relative to the p-01, where I had to get thinner after market grips from LOK)?

The grip is much more slender.  There is also 3 diff. sized back straps to customize the grip even more.  I think the P07 works well for the majority of hand sizes.

I usually wear a medium glove or just break into a large and the grip out of the box makes reach to the trigger perfect. As was mentioned it comes with additional backstraps but I dont have very large hands and I took it from the counter to the range and it was perfect.

that def helps.  I too usually wear a medium glove, so that's reassuring.    It's strange, b/c in the video pics from Honest Outlaw make it look as thought the trigger reach is farther in the p-07 than the p-01.    That's why I thought I would ask, as those video shots can be deceiving.  Plus, he has large hands

On a final note.  My wife has medium sized hands for a female, and she has no issues firing my P07 with the large backstrap installed.

I have large but not massive hands for a man my size... around 5' 11" with a size 11 shoe for reference purposes.  I wear a large or XL size glove depending on the sizing.  I find the medium backstrap along with Talon grips fits my hand nicely on my P-07's, giving me optimal trigger reach.  That is also based on my trigger technique which is to insert a bit past the pad of the finger, but not quite all the way to the crook, which I find works best for me on a DA pull.

I tested the three different backstraps by feel and for accurate trigger pull results using a MantisX before settling on the medium.  I would recommend to anyone to do something similar unless the small backstrap that comes installed just happens to feel perfect straight out of the box.  Just have the necessary tools and methods for removing the mainspring plug and pin and re-inserting it, which can be trickier than it sounds.
