VZ 2008 Front Sight Issue
« on: November 28, 2022, 07:41:15 PM »
Hey all, I have a Century Arms VZ 2008.  Like others have reported, the windage piece on the front sight is completely stuck.  No amount of WD 40 or lubricant will loosen it.  I think I may need to replace the whole front sight.  Can anyone recommend a good source for this?  Also, is this the same as an AK front sight?  Thank in advance.

You need the Magna-Matic AK front sight tool.  Don’t even bother with some crappy little short handled AK front sight adjustment tool, just get the Magna-Matic. It will fix all of your stuck VZ and AK windage woes.

I have that tool.  Trust me, it doesn’t budge.

Not doubting you, but have you tried soaking a few days in Kroil oil (or similar penitrant)? Then perhaps a little bit of time with some cold?

Have you scored all movement interfaces with an exacto knife?  The teflon coating is like paint (i.e., painting windows shut).

Have you then repeatedly soaked the front sight block with PB Blaster or liquid wrench or similar?

Have you applied heat with a propane or butane torch to the windage cylinder on both sides?

Try w/ your magnamatic tool at each iteration.

You can also hit that cylinder with a big hammer and punch from both sides.

If you get initial movement from any of above, resoak w/ penetrating oil for 24 hours or so, before using your mangnamatic tool to actually adjust it/taking a trip to the range.
