S&W 617
« on: December 26, 2022, 12:09:41 PM »
So I’ve had a 6" S&W 17-6 for some years now, and have been lusting for the stainless version. I saw several for sale in the last 12 months, all 6" but felt they were priced too high.

Then a week ago I saw an ad from a private seller for a 4", first time I ever saw one for sale. Similar high price but for the rarer 4" version. Met the seller, haggled a bit and came home with it after forking out $ 950.-

Packed Septembre 14, 1990

Grips dated September 8, 1990

Quick range trip 25 m indoor

Congrats- I have a 10 shot 617, also in 4”.  Great gun & possibly my favorite S&W.  I use it often in our ASI games with my wife who shoots aRuger MK II my Dad passed down to me.

Congrats! my 617 is the 4" version. Perfect pack gun. Goes in the truck, 4wheeler, backpack, working with the tractor and more.

Nice find.  I have a 6 inch 617 that is super accurate. Great guns!

I've got a pre-model 17, 6".  Super gun, fun, accurate, cheap to shoot.  What's not to like. Also, it was shipped in '52, my birthyear.  I'll bet your 4" has a nice balance to it.  Enjoy.
