Did CZ actually produce the 453 Varmint in 17 HM2?
« on: January 15, 2023, 10:04:16 PM »
Did CZ ever produce the 453 Varmint in 17 HM2? I have seen where it was announced in 22 lr and 17 HM2. I have never seen or heard of one that was actually produced in the 17 HM2. I have seen a 453 American in 17 HM2 in person. I understand not many of them were produced.

I believe the 453 American was initially released in .22LR and .17 Mach 2. In 2006 they released the .17HMR at a $30 additional cost.

You can occasionally see the Mach 2 chambered ones come up at auction but that chambering kinda became superfluous with the release of the HMR.

I have a 453 American in .17 HMR. It’s a tack driver but sometimes suffers from light strikes, even with an extra power DIP spring.   Great for ground hogs out to about 130 yards. Beyond that you really start to lose energy.

Not sure if this will help or just add more confusion. The 17 HMR was introduced before the 17 HM2 round. CZ was chambering the 452 series in 17 HMR awhile before offering the 17 HM2 chambering.
