Short reset and short pre travel with stock parts? SP-01 Shadow
« on: February 11, 2023, 04:32:58 AM »
Hello guys.

Wondering how you can achieve a shorter action using only the stock parts.

SP-01 out of the box comes with a long and heavy DA pull. SA works pretty nice also, but it has that long pretravel before it fires. We are not talking about changing hammer spring or trigger spring yet.
After all the polishing it needs to be done, which is incredibly explained here on the forum and with such great videos, my idea is to make some mods to stock parts.

When you work on a custom disconnector, it comes thicker to file it to desired dimensions to get the reset you want/travel you need to work correctly after the gun heats up and pieces expand.

Is there a way to get a short action without changing disconnector? Which parts need to be worked on to achieve this? Just wondering where far can I take it without changing parts. Only a lighter hammer spring in this case.

Thanks.

Other than adding a trigger with a pre and overtravel set screw there's nothing that can be done to remove all of the "slack" in the action on these pistols. CGW parts a great improvement but this is the nature of the beast. You can convert the pistol to single action only but some take up will still be present and you just get used to it or move on to a single action pistol such as a 1911 or a striker fired pistol that can be reworked to achieve what you want.

I know some guys mod them with stock parts and only change springs and extended firing pin. But is more a gunsmith work they won’t share.

CGW will be the solution in this case. Considering I have other guns with those kind of system.

Hope can find someone that shares that data.

There's no data anyone is hiding. Yes there are mods that can be done to stock parts to lighten and smooth the trigger but there's no secret sauce to take all the slack out of this style action.

There are no super secret squirrel modifications that make oem parts work like improved aftermarket race parts. There are countless threads here that document what can be done to squeeze every last bit of potential from the CZ75 and variants. To shorten trigger travel, you will need to buy parts or manufacture them yourself.

Cz custom used to sell an old style disco.
It is for in.
I bought one on fleabay for a song and it was drop in.
Reduced the pretravel nicely.
Later I improved it both ways with the CGW race hammer kit.
I see the disco offered on fleabay periodically.
CZ 85 Combat, NRA Lifer.
