Question from new member with a new p10c

Hi all. Picked up my new pistol yesterday and excited to get it to the range later this week. Everything is as I’d hoped. Really like the size and weight of the pistol, the night sites, grip angle, and aggressive texturing. Also, the slide release lever is as stiff as I was told it would be, but I know it will loosen up over time. Wondering about a scratch on the feeding ramp. Was this test fired in the factory? There isn’t a target to give evidence of this in the box. Thanks.

Yes, they are all test fired.

CZ does function test their pistols before shipment but they no longer ship test targets with them and haven't for some time now.

One other question - the p10c manual says I should use a new roll pin every time I change the back strap. Should I expect the one that came in the pistol to break when I try the medium back strap?

If you don't damage it you can re-use it. Breakage is not likely.

I love my P10c except for the harsh grip. I added Talon grips to protect my candy ass hands.

That pin (at least on mine) has barbs to hold it in place.  I was worried that taking it in and out too many times would chew a hole in the frame.  As it turns out, there's not much need to take it out more than a time or maybe two, so it isn't an issue.  As to the scratch on the feed ramp, it's a good idea to polish the feed ramp, if you're okay with doing a little work on it.  Restraint is the byword with most work on firearms, and that applies here, too- just polish, go easy.

Tried to change the back strap today. The roll pin came out readily enough, but then bent and snapped while trying to put it back. Because they’re out of roll pins, CZ customer service advised I make a warranty claim for a new back strap and one will come with it.

So, haven’t even shot the pistol yet and I’m already waiting for a replacement part. Pretty frustrated.

When it gets here is there some trick to getting the back strap swapped without this happening again?

You could look up a gun smith local to you and they might have a pin that works.

I'm not sure how you bent it. Key thing is make sure all the holes are lined up. If you are using a punch make sure its larger then the pin and not small enough to get stuck in the pin.  Put the pin in by hand and lightly tap it if you have to. Mine goes almost all the way in by hand. As you tap make sure the holes are still aligned.

Yeah never had any issue with things like this. Make sure you have the proper tools.

Well it is unfortunate and definitely not the norm for those to break at least not that I've seen. Hopefully they get one out to you quickly.

Sounds like the holes were not lined up.  Took me about 2-3 min tops to change the back strap on my P07, and there is also a spring involved with this back strap installation.
