New CZ Pistol Coming
« on: March 13, 2023, 10:44:43 AM »
Great video as usual by TFBTV. So, James makes a comment at the 1:36 mark stating his favorite pistol at the IWA & EnForceTac shows in Germany this year is a CZ, but he can't say anything about it until July 2023 and it was actually not on display. That has my interests for sure. Hopefully it is not just another slightly tweaked version of the Shadow. I am hoping P07 and/or P09 refresh!

I watched one of his videos the other day on the new S&W folding 9MM carbine.  Zero issues with his manner/tone.  But, on another forum I belong to some of the members didn't like is attitude or language.

Just a heads up in case someone complains.

Hey, what's wrong with the P07 and P09 pistols?  If they aren't going to make shoot even better, or maybe put them out in OR versions they should be smart enough to leave a great package alone.  Think about how many things the manufacturers and engineers have messed up over the years when they "improved" it.

Heck, I don't guess I need an OR model (they'd probably sell more of them though) as three of my four have been milled for optics, rear sights, etc. already.

Lately I have bought OR models (all M&Ps since CZ doesn't make small pistol in the Shield/Shield Plus size with a thumb safety anymore) and extra OR slides for a couple of them.  Three reasons 1. the Shields shoot like a CZ (or so close I can't usually tell the difference) 2. the Shields can be had in thumb safety models, 3. the Shield is way small compared to a P07 or P01.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Nothing at all wrong with the P07 & P09. Infact, they are my favorite polymer pistols out there. Just would be nice to see a OR version with better grip texture. That is really the only changes I would like to see.

Oh and if someone does not like the TFBTV video, thats not my concern. They can like it or not, I am just sharing since this video mentions the CZ pistol.

Yeah, the rumored sub compact version of the P-07 never materialized at Shot Show this year, which was disappointing. I’m looking for an optics ready DA/SA pistol with a light rail to replace my beloved Rami BD as my EDC — you hear that, CZ? Optics ready with a light rail — we’re in the 2020s now, after all.

Otherwise, I’m sending the Rami down to CGW for a re-work.

This is not surprising, but am disappointed.  We’ve seen CZ offer suppressor sighted and OR kitted polymer guns previously.

What I would like to see as Meat Axe mentioned- a P10S sized P07, using same mags as the P10S.  Being OR would be a benefit IMO.

But I am frequently disappointed…….. ;)

Sadly, uninspired is the first word that comes to mind.

Actually, I wouldn’t mind a double stack magazine and the ability to use normal capacity mags (14+ Rds.). But I’m no fan of striker fired pistols.

The only other DA/SA sub compact alternative would be the HK P30SK, but that has a lousy stock trigger and is not optics ready. Would cost @ $1,400 to get one with a trigger job and optics cut, plus the mags are pricy.

Did I forget the Beretta PX4 subcompact? No, but it’s aesthetics are bizarre. My gun’s gotta look sexy!!

I'm a group size snob (as well as other types ;D)

I've only (out of 7 or 8 other brands in multiple sizes/calibers) bought one other pistol I happily carry believing it shoots as well (or a little better) than most of my CZs.  It's an M&P Shield in 9MM.  We've got three of them now.

Small, easy to carry, reliable.  Striker fired, yeah I know.  But when it shoots like these shoot I'm not ignoring it because it doesn't have a hammer.  Thumb safety (all ours) or no thumb safety.  OR models more and more available.  Lights available (rail or no rail, a TLR6 is made for them as well as other brands with lights only, lasers only or the combo light/laser model).

The bigger M&Ps (I have a few) just won't shoot with the Shields.  I don't know why, they just don't (except for maybe the .45 acp models).  There's a difference between the tiny Shields and the full sized M&Ps.

Nope, the EZ models don't get it either.  Got one of those and it's in the safe for non-performance on paper.

Now I'm going down the rabbit hole with 4" slides for the Shield Plus in 9MM.  No harder to carry concealed than the 3.1" version with an extra inch of barrel for more velocity.  Has a Holoson and a TLR 6 on it (same TLR6 that fits the standard Shield fits the Plus whether Streamlight has figured it out or not.  Several members on the M&P Pistol forum have bought/installed TLR6 lights on their Shield Plus pistols with zero issues.

The Plus?  While similar in size to the P07 if you go wild with it (4" slide/barrel and 15 round magazines) it's way thinner on your side than the P07.  in the 3.1" version with the 13 round magazines its smaller than the P07.

Try one.  You might like it.  Check out the options for the Shields and Shield Plus pistols.  Factory spares, aftermarket parts, etc.

My 8/9 shot Shield 9MM and iron sights with my 10/13/15 shot Shield Plus 9MM with a Holoson, back up iron sights and the light/laser off the Shield.

The Shield Plus with a 13 round mag. in it, 4" slide/barrel and Holoson with back up sights and the TLR6 on it.  A 15 round magazine behind it to show how much more would stick out the bottom of the grip when it's installed instead of the usual 13 round magazine in it.  The barrel is an aftermarket barrel slightly longer than 4" as it's ported out there on the end.

The Shield (left) and Shield Plus (right) with my thumb as a reference showing how wide the guns are vs the thumb and each other.  The Plus is only a bit wider than the standard Shield.  Nope, never bothered to measure either one.

Honestly, you've seen me type a lot about how aggravating the M&P pistols are if you like to shoot small groups.  The Shield is a different animal.  A lot of the members on the M&P Pistol forum will say the same thing - their Shields out shoot their full sized M&P pistols.

One of the guys on the forum has mentioned he's looking to get a  40 S&W Shield slide/barrel (they're everywhere on the web and ebay) to put on his Shield Plus frame.  He believes he can modify the magazines to hold/feed .40 S&W ammo by opening the lips up just a bit.  I'm sort of waiting to see how it does.  Not sure I want to shoot a .40 S&W Shield though.

Now, why don't I just buy the small P10?  No thumb safety.

A picture.  I was adjusting the laser on my 1.0 Shield 9MM to get POA and POI together on the target using the same 115 grain hollowpoints that shoot so well in my CZ 9MM pistols.  Range 7.5 yds. off hand.  Shoot 3 shots, adjust the laser "up."  Shoot 3 shots, adjust the laser up.  Shoot 3 more shots and had it where I wanted it.

For a pocket sized 9MM they shoot pretty good.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

No interest in anything striker fired and ZERO interest in anything that I can't get a complete hand on or needs a mag extension to do so. I'd really love to see CZ produce a compact size PCR, P-01, P-07 in .45 ACP. Not likely to happen but I can wish.

Feel the same way about decocker pistols and pistols with no manual safety.

Well CZ did just recently retire the original TSO Orange and replace it with the TS2 Orange.

They also retired the Czechmate and the Czechmate Parrot. Could a replacement for these two competition pistols be on the way?

Another pistol which CZ has previously announced but is finally rumored to be here in July is the compact version of the Dan Wesson DWX.  Even though it carries the DW nameplate, it's still a CZ.

I don't mind safeties at all and own a couple CZ's with them and obviously my 1911's but coming from DA revolvers I like the long pull first shot so decockers work just fine for me.

I was really hoping for the DWX OR too, so much that I held off getting a DWX.  I contacted DW recently and was given some information that may or may not be correct. The rep said that a DWX OR would be more than likely be announced probably at Shot Show next year.  Why it would take that long to come out with an OR ready version is frustrating since DW has had three years since the original announcement of the DWK and the fact that an OR model would almost certainly be the one in most demand, but it is what it is. I decided not to wait and I ordered a DWX. I should be able to pick it up today, Wednesday.

As far as the DWX Compact, the rep said that they have been working hard to get it to market and that it should be out before July 2023, so in just a few months. Given all of the past delays we'll have to see, but it's something to shoot for.
