Hearing the rumors on price, I think I know the game behind this pistol.  It’s basically meant to compete with carry versions of 2011s.  Staccato, Bul, etc. have really pushed smaller versions of their guns and CZ has seen people buying them - even if the prices are ridiculous.  This is meant to be a HIGH END compact gun with many features that has to be added to their normal offerings like the P-07 or P-01.  CZ sees all the money going into those custom guns and wants you to buy this gun instead of only buying a P-01 for $600 and putting another $1000 into it through CGW, CZ Custom, etc.
Ya well cz custom has one and has already added their bits to it.

An aluminum frame carry shadow, no decocker, a thumb safety that looks flat, hefty at 30oz...  So I can get a heavy carry gun with either a safety I can't easily hit or a hammer I have to lower by pulling the trigger. That'll be a pass from me. I'd rather keep the p365, smaller, lighter, easier to conceal, same capacity and then spend the money on something else.

Frankly I'm pumped for the S2 compact. I just bought a Shadow 2 @ three months ago, and it instantly became my favorite pistol ever. So much so that I'm on the verge of getting a TS2, and I almost bought an A01LD a couple weeks ago until I found out the price on one just jumped almost $400. Snoozed and lost on that one, should've picked it up a couple months ago when I started looking at it. But there's always GunBroker, someone will wanna come off a used one eventually...

Congratulations on your Shadow 2. It sounds like you've got the bug. Once you get hooked on CZs there's no stopping. They make some fantastic guns.

I can't wait to get the Shadow2 compact. With a MSRP of only $1299, they should eventually be found for around $1100-$1200, maybe less.

That's quite a bargain in my book.

This looks awesome.  I’m a CZ guy.  I have P01 Steel that I’m trying to decide to trade or sell for the shadow 2 compact or TS2 40s&w.  Definitely tough choice.

Yeah, this thing is silly, but not unexpected from Colt-cz Management, once again rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic en route to another bankruptcy.

If they were smart, they’d have come out with a subcompact OR version of the Rami or P-07 so they could compete in the enormous ccw market, but no… the usual $$$$ vanity gun with little practical use.

Exactly, I was speaking with CZ the other day and from my understanding, CZ UB bought Colt, and then let Colt manage the US side of things! It’s like WTF were you thinking. Let Colt stay on their sinking ship. Maybe CZ felt we had some kind of Iconic attachment to the Colt brand. They sure got that wrong.

Just email CZ UB and let them know your thoughts and disappointment, maybe it will help.

I realize there are many people out there with varying opinions, and I'm not saying that anyone is wrong with what they want to see CZ come out with, but don't discount the number of people who are waiting to snap up a Shadow2 compact.

I've been watching the comments from the time a new model was said to be on the way, to the reactions now that we know what that model is to be and there are a lot of CZ fans who are delighted with the decision and will jump through hoops to get a compact Shadow 2. I will definitely get one asap.

I have to believe that Colt/CZ has done their homework and have found that there is a market for this model.  Perhaps they will also do their homework and now realize that there is also a huge market for a new CCW.

We have to understand that CZ sells to a worldwide market. CCW firearms may be immensely popular in the US right now, but not so much in the rest of the world. This new compact Shadow2 will probably be a big hit overseas as well as in the US, but now that this model is out it's time for CZ to start focusing on another big market, the CCW market in the US.

UB did not purchase Colt. CZ Group (now Colt CZ Group) purchased Colt. UB is owned by the same entity.

Shame the Colt bashing continues to make its way into yet another thread.
Was hoping the Official Jump on Colt Thread would be the place to do it in.
https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=119523.msg928881#msg928881

I get it, many are so passionate about the beloved CZ brand including myself-------- but I just don't understand why the constant "colt blah.blah, blah bankruptcy", "colt blah, blah, blah mis-management" etc that permeates into many threads here.  Kinda a broken record to me.

----> That said, I'm digging the new Shadow 2 Compact and assume others will as well.

Let’s say that you’re in the marketing dept and you have this new premium-priced pistol on one hand as well as hypothetically speaking, a new/revised utilitarian, hammer-fired, OR, polymer frame pistol in full and compact size with a revised trigger assembly, etc. Do you release both at the same time so you wind up taking away some of the real spotlight on the premium product or do you wait a while and let the premium product has its buzz for a while?

The Colt bashing will no doubt continue forever some of it true, but most have no idea of what they are talking about being nothing more than a gun store or keyboard commandos.  No company, absolutely no company today comes out with a new pistol they haven't done their research on to make sure it will be a success for them.  I think they S2 Compact will be a big hit if it performs as well as or very close to the original S2.  Would it be my choice for an EDC pistol?  Nope no way, I have $400 Glocks for that and I won't miss them if they go to the evidence locker.

Does the world REALLY need another small mini pistol to meet the predisposed needs of the EDC/CCW community?  If you say yes you have already missed the boat.  And if you are hauling around a $1,200 or more priced pistol on your person for EDC work you need to re-examine what you are doing.  It makes no sense what-so-ever carrying an expense pistol for EDC work.

Can the S2 Compact be used as an EDC pistol?  Certainly, but is it the best and most convenient choice?  Nope, not by a long shot. What is/was lacking in the market is a middle sized hammer fired all metal pistol capable of excellent accuracy, reliable and fun to shoot that doesn't cost $2K or more.  A pistol that makes you want to go to the range to shoot it, not sit at home.  I love shooting my S2 and I have a lot of other choices in my safe, but the S2 is my preferred "fun gun" right now and I don't see that changing in the near future although I will be buying an S2 Compact ASAP.  The tripe about a firing pin safety or decocker is baloney.  I carried a Series 70 Colt Lightweight Commander for many years and never had an issue with it.  If you have an issue with letting the hammer down on a loaded chamber perhaps you should re-evaluate your experience level with these firearms and find something a bit less intimidating or better yet, learn how to safely let the hammer down on a loaded chamber.  It really isn't all that difficult as long as you keep your head screwed on straight.  And realistically how many people drop a loaded pistol?

And Colt bashers just continue on, Colt will be here long after you are not.

Despite what many people would like to believe, “Colt” is not the same company these days, as founded by Samuel Colt in the 1840s. It’s been bought, sold, bankrupted and acquired dozens of times over the years. “Colt” is just a name with a corporate board of directors attached like a parasite (which should have been unceremoniously kicked to the curb long ago), perpetually in and out of bankruptcy.

Who needs another sub compact edc pistol? It’s the hottest sector of the market, obviously, especially if it’s optics & light / laser ready. CZ would be in a unique position to compete with a DA/SA alternative to the usual striker-fired garbage. But nooooo…How many heavy $$$$ S2 all steel “competition compacts” will CZ sell compared to $$$ sub compact ccw their competitors are selling to a voracious market?
