Rumor that CZ is moving to dealer-only sales model?
« on: March 25, 2023, 03:04:53 PM »
Heard a rumor that CZ is going to a dealer-only sales model, starting next month (April)

Curious if anyone else has heard this?

It *might* explain the price drops at a lot of the online sellers, if distributors wanna clear out inventory?

Thanks.

But it wasn't distributers that dropped the price. It was cz.

Where did you hear the rumor from?

FFL friend of mine.

Im finding S2 OR for a about $1050.

The current MSRP is $1299 right now, Im assuming it was higher before the price drops, but I dont know exactly what.  Were they always selling for ~20% under MSRP?  I feel like they weren't.

Also pricing on the P10 variants has been pretty crazy lately too.  P10c for 350?  P10c-OR for 380?

I live in CT.

Colt is a (just another) shame on our house, if you will.

I really want a Shadow 2 but I worry about the future if I ever need service.

I hope it's true. Eliminate the middleman. Sell more guns for less to the consumers.

I would think dealer only leads to higher prices, no?

CZ can control "minimum pricing", so dealers would potentially take a hit (or even be dropped as dealers) if they try to undercut other dealers.

Dealers that sell for less get the most money in volume sales. It's fairer to dealers than a distributor who allots guns to favored dealers.

CZ doesn't care who sells for how much as long as CZ gets what they want to get.

Supply and demand - free markets.

Similarly, it would be better if cars were sold to consumers from the manufacturers rather than the crooks who run dealerships.

Again, the Colt whine is evident.

Sounds like a going out of business sale.

There are some changes coming 4/1. However, they (like most large manufacturers) will still have the majority of their product going through the two step distribution channel. I'm not aware of any major manufacturer that doesn't do the largest volume through the distribution channel. There are all sorts of logistic and financial reasons for that.

So what is the “Colt Whine”? Colt (mis)Management’s perpetual pleadings before a bankruptcy judge?

Blaming Colt for CZ decisions. There was a tornado in Mississippi Friday night. I'm waiting for Colt to be blamed for that as well.

Well, here is another CZ rumor that has me wondering what the heck is going on with CZ. To be honest, it is getting old and I sure wish someine with CZ would just go public and out everything straight.

Set everything straight about what? They have a list of authorized dealers on their web site, they'll continue to do so. Just about no major manufacturer is going to cut out the distribution channel if that's what this rumor was saying.
