P09 Decocker stuck
« on: March 30, 2023, 06:13:30 PM »
Got my new P09 today and trying to Install cgw springs.  The decocker seems to be stuck on something. I released the spring and push down on the ejector, but the decocker won't come out of the frame.

New P-07 in, plan to Cajunize (looks like hammers are out of stock so on hold for now), had same issue, decocker was really stuck.  Screwdriver trick in video didn't work.  Brass punch and hammer on one of the internal shoulders on the bar didn't help.  Finally got it by some magic combination of pressing in with same punch on shoulder next to the decocker spring, while pressing down with variable pressures on both the sear and the ejector.  Suppose it's a tolerance problem, had no trouble on the 3 other polymer omegas I've worked on.

I believe you're right, tolerance stacking.  My P07 was a breeze, P09 was a pita and continues to be.  The P09 has a foot out the door. :(

Never any troubles with the P07s or P09s.

That second P01 Omega would not let the safeties work correctly.  I fiddled with that thing for too long before I grabbed the Urban Gray P01 Omega and removed the safeties from it.  The went right into the black one and worked great.  Grabbed the pair that wouldn't install/work in the black P01 and they went right into the Urban Gray pistol and worked fine.

Parts fit is funny sometimes.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I'm having the same issue, so rather than mar my frame up any more, I took it to a gunsmith to get the decocker out. It'd be nice to know whether there was a specific batch of parts that are slightly out of "disassembly spec" so we could replace them and avoid this in the future.

There's no "out of disassemble spec" it's a matter of taking your time and figuring it out. Some are pretty tight when they are new. My P-07 was a bit snug but I got it free after a few minutes. Patience as always is the key.

Thanks for the actually descriptive and helpful tips! I will try this when I get mine back.
