Holosun 507 for SP-01
« on: April 07, 2023, 10:51:40 AM »
I want to get an optic for my SP-01 Tactical.  The SP-01 is a suppressor ready model w/ threaded barrel & suppressor height sights.  I want to keep the sights to use as witness sights.  The distance from the front of the sight to edge of the ejection port is 1.9"  The 507C has a length of 1.78"  The 507K has a length of 1.60".  I like the 507C because it has a larger screen but it may be too big.

I should be able to get the slide milled so that the sights are barely below the aiming dot.

Anything that uses the RMR footprint is going to require the use of a plate which will make it too tall to cowitness unless you use a plate with rear irons built on it.

The 507k is a much better option for what you are looking to achieve.

Thanks for the reply & pic.  The 507K looks good.  As I said, I have the suppressor height sight which are about 0.25" taller sthan standard sights.  Can you get me more info on the plate?  Why is a plate required if the slide will be milled for that particular optic?

The 507c has an RMR footprint. The 507k has an RMS footprint. They are not the same. Something to consider.

I setup a P10C optic ready model. I could be wrong but all the CZ OR models require a plate which needs to be purchased separately for each mounting style. There are a number of OEM and aftermarket suppliers. FYI don’t be surprised if the plate is out of stock  :-\

I have 507K and C. The size difference for the window is significant. The K is great for carry. Anything else and I’d get it’s big brother. I suggest you look at them in person. On a gun if you can.

The plate is required for the RMR footprint because the mounting screw holes are wider than the slide. Fire4Effects offered direct slide milling for the RMR but they closed their doors like a year ago or so. The 507k is thinner than the slide so it can be directed milled and it will sit lower.

Another optic to consider would be the Holosun EPS. Per Holosun, the non-carry standard EPS has a 0.63"x0.91" window size which is identical to the window size listed for the 507C.  The EPS has a 507k footprint.

I recently switched my 507k for an EPS on my CZ Sp01. The optic does hang over the slide a bit but does not add to the maximum overall width of the gun since the stock slide stop is wider the optic overhang.  The co-witness is about a lower-1/4, which is highly usable.

See photos below: In the down the sights photo, I would say it appears slightly wider than it actually is.

This is about to come out. I am saving for it now. I'm not sure about co whitness though, that is not a concern of mine.

no.vale.la.pena - that is a wicked SP-01 build! what comp is that? Any problems using it?
I totally dig that ring hammer too!

The comp is a volker precision “universal comp” (https://www.volkerprecision.com/product-page/universal-comp). I am planning on doing a more in depth post on the forum about it at some point. But in short I like it a lot, it works well for what it is. I was very skeptical of the thread-locker free, set screw free design but it stays on well enough so far with just the spring washer. The most consecutive rounds I’ve gone without taking it off is 250 rds and it hasn’t come loose yet (only 602 rds total), so I’d like to do more long term testing before I take it to a high round count class or anything.

The one downside so far is that they are made in batches and are constantly out of stock.
