P01 frame question

Looking at a P01 frame with the slide off , on the right side frame rail , there is a small section that seems to be milled away , right near the spring that retains the slide-stop/take-down lever. Is this milled area normal ? Was it put there to access the spring more easily ? Any information is appreciated. Again , this is on the right side frame rail.

Yes, that appears to be for easy access to the spring.
