Feedback regarding CZ rifles???
« on: January 19, 2004, 10:55:18 PM »
Hello, I'm never around these parts I'm usually over in the P-O1 section or over at the Sig Forum.

Was wondering if you could help me out with a question.

Can the CZ rifles be purchased with a black synthetic stock, if not from CZ, how about aftermarket???

Thanks

Has anyone shortened their 550 (I have it in .270) barrel? To make it similar to the Remington Model 7, which is 39" in length; looks llike one would cut about 3" off the end and have it re-crowned. How much weight is saved & how much is accuracy compromised?

thanks.  Bill.

A newer generation of CZ-550 is due to come out with a synthetic stock. The version coming out is based on the Varmint(heavy barrel), no standard barrel in sight. Call H-S Precision they should be able to help you out with aftermarket stocks.

Accuracy is not comprimised by cutting barrel off 3'', this will only bring you less velocity, but in a vehicle or heavy brush area will handle much more easily. You'll be left with putting your front sight on the new cut barrel & have your muzzle recrowned.

McMillan makes stocks for 550s. Their hunting stocks are listed on their site, and some of their tactical stocks can be inletted for the 550. They do cost more than HS, but they are real stocks, not frilly pink styrofoam wrapped in fiberglass.
