New P10S
« on: April 30, 2023, 11:33:57 PM »
You might ask: so, "pistoljunkie" - how many pistols do you own?  This, my new CZ P10S is actually only my 2nd pistol, but it won't be the last.  My first was about 10 years ago...a Ruger SR9.  Ok, so now you would likely ask...how does two pistols make you a pistol junkie?  I research and analyze...some might say obsessively.  After combing thru numerous youtube reviews, I heard a few good things about the P10C, especially the trigger/reset and I was intrigued.  So I went looking farther and found the P10S - the form factor I was seeking with the intent to get my LTC, as I wanted to get comfortable carrying BEFORE actually NEEDING it in this increasingly CRAZY world!

I am not a "modder"...of anything...cars, motorcycles, computers, so I wanted something that just works.  Sure, having aftermarket tweaks is great but that's not for me.  I wanted to get my hands on it before buying, but CZ P10 of any kind was very difficult to find, retail or otherwise.  I finally found a P10F but I wasn't in the market for that form factor.  I found a P10C at the range, but no P10S.  Finally, I found a shop where one of the employees had one at home and he kindly brought it in the next day!  Awesome help!

In summary, I am loving the P10S thus far.  Granted, I have only shot about a dozen other pistols, so of limited comparison, but I am very happy with my choice.

So let me hear from you - did I choose well?  Words of wisdom?  Holster recommendations?  Other accessories?

Great firearm.  I almost traded my P07 for one.  Thought about going back to striker from hammer fired.  But!!!  My P07 is home defense and hammer fired is fine, also the size difference wasn’t enough to lose 3 rds over.  I do realize you can get mag extensions on the P10s.  Lastly, the last time I sold a P07 I missed it terribly.  So I decided to keep my P07.

Anyhow, the P10s is a sweet firearm.  Congratulations!!!

All the models of the P-10 series seem to be excellent pistols. I'm sure you'll love your P-10S.
I've found that growing up in the sixties was a lot more fun than being in my sixties.

I have both a C & S.  Both fine guns & I’m consistent with both.  I am slightly faster with the C versus the S in my ASI/ IDPA games, but not by much.

Congrats on getting an S.  There are some killer deals ongoing- looking fwd to a range report

Hi. My P10S is my EDC and has been for the past couple of years.

God bless us, I've never had to draw it in anger but if you're asking for mods/additions, here's what I did -

1. Installed the extended mag grip for the pinkie (mine came with a pair) that gave me just enough space to accommodate my complete hand (I got girlie hands, meh).

2. Added an Olight Baldr flashlight/green laser combo. It added very little in weight and nothing when it came to profile, compared to a red dot (that debate is for another forum).

3. Put in an HBI trigger, it was flatter and I noticed my trigger finger would often fail to engage the safety on the stock trigger (yes, I realize that training will also fix that but...)

4. I replaced the stock trigger spring with an HBI trigger spring kit (no regrets at all)

5. Oh, and Talon grips, but not because the gun lacked grip. Indeed the opposite. The texture on the grips were so aggressive that it threatened to turn my soft lil girlie hands to shreds after a couple of hundred rounds. (Plus you could actually give your weapon a two-tone look if you get a contrasting grip color)

With the mag extension installed the P10S is the perfect size for me. Would I have gotten a P-07 if it were available in my LGS at the time I got the P10S? In hindsight, probably, but only because of my preference for SA/DA triggers and the fact that my local concealed carry laws make it practical to carry larger sized weapons.

Hope your P10S serves you well!

I have one that I carry frequently.  I added an HBI trigger and trigger spring kit and a Henning EDC Magazine Grip Extension (it increases magazine capacity by only 1 on the P10S model, but adds enough length to better fit my hand).

I also had CZ Custom machine the slide and install a Trijicon RMRcc red dot optic, complete with a drop-in CHWPS rear backup sight.  The sights perfectly 1/3 lower co-witness with this setup.

The pistol has proven to be very accurate, and I have yet to experience a malfunction of any type using four different magazines, and four brands of factory JHP and FMJ ammo as well as a JHP handload.

I carry it in either a JMCK OWB2 or a JMCK AIWB 2.5 Wing Claw holster, and they both serve me perfectly.

It's a compact, lightweight, accurate, reliable pistol that is both easy and fun to shoot!

Well that's interesting:  I'm actually about to do the same:   sell my p-07 that had a trigger job done by CZ custom (very smooth DA pull now) and buy an "out of the box" ready to go striker fired CC gun.   I want to stay with CZ for the reliability and the very good factory trigger on this gun as I don't want to have to do any mods to it at all outside of installing XS R3D night sweats.
It's a bit thinner than the p-07 as well (1.26 vs 1.46 width).

I don't want the CZ p-10M based on the mixed reviews I've heard on the trigger and lack of external slide release

I bought this for my wife because I got it at an amazing price.  We took it to the range and she loves it.  Fits her hand perfectly and through 100rd, not one hiccup.  It actually shot accurately and the recoil wasnt bad at all.

Anyhow, yes its 7rds but I have two extra mags for it.

Interesting........ does she like the trigger and did she get to compare it with p-10s?
I really liked the IDEA of the p-10M, but after seeing its capacity coupled with very mixed reviews on the trigger, I thought I should stick with the slightly thicker p-10S

Several of us actually shot the M.   Not a single person complained. This isn’t a range gun, so slow trigger pulls probably won’t happen in real life.  But to answer your question, she liked everything about the P10M.  Also, she had never shot a P10S.

Got my new p10s and took it out today for the first time:
I absolutely love it.  Great ergos, very good trigger out of the box, and no hiccups with about 120 rounds through it.

Typical CZ reliability and amazing price for this gun.     The only I plan on doing is getting rid of the factory 3 dot set up and replacing them with some blacked out rear/tritium front night sights.
