New tandemkross comp on sp01 shadow
« on: May 15, 2023, 06:36:39 PM »
Hey gang, just wanted to try and show off the tandemkross 9mm comp. I haven’t seen many sp01s with comps so here’s one. I was torn between this and the hbi industries, but this seemed like it might do more. I’ll report back with a range report.

I dig it!
what ammo are you running?
I have had a time keeping my comp in time with major PF ammo.
Nice looking pistol. I love built 01s vs S2s...

I’m embarrassed to say but Blazer brass 115 grain fmj. The only competition I’m in is with my shooting buddies. I only shot about 30 rounds through it, I focused more on the p09 since I put some Cajun love in it. The comped shadow ran 100%, but it was only ejecting the casing about a foot. So I’m guessing it’s on the brink of not running. I have to say I do notice a slight difference in flip. But  I feel like it made more of a difference in volume. Boy it seems like it’s barking right in my face lol. I’ll be playing around more soon, as long as it keeps running I don’t plan to touch it. I could see i will be constantly adjusting the time. But hey, that’s okay, set screw comps scare me. I’d be worried about not getting them off or marking up the barrel.

Thanks for sharing.  I've been trying to add a comp to my S2 for a while.  As I'm sure you know, the low bore axis means that many comps will end up hitting the dust cover.  So our options are mostly limited to small universal comps or PCC comps.

I'm going to give the Odin Works Atlas 9 a try.

I’ve never heard of the oden works atlas 9, that looks pretty cool, thanks for the recommendation. I won’t lie, I’m not totally in love with the look of the tandemcross, but it’s on there till I find something better. It’s always good to see what else is out there, I was also looking at the Strike Micro Threaded Comp - QUAD, but decided against it, it be cool to try them all. Happy shooting friends.

Great job on your tandemkross 9mm comp setup. The tandemkross comp looks sleek and well-designed.

When you have the opportunity to test your SP01 with the tandemkross comp at the range, it would be great to hear your feedback on its performance, recoil mitigation, and any other observations you make.

that looks DAF - thx for posting. How many rounds through it so far? I'm thinking about ordering one of these soon. I moved my 11 port comp to my Ruger PC9. I'm ready to try comp #3 for Maj PF ammo. It looks like that rear nut is a jam nut.

Edit: I meant Dope as phuk not the other - I dig it - looks wild...

Here are some other options I'm considering - for any others that stumble upon this thread:

Just remember flush fit comps will hit the dust cover of any SP01 variants, assuming you're using a standard length threaded barrel.

I've not had a chance to shoot with the Atlas 9 yet.  Though I can say the build quality is top notch.  It's steel, so you're adding a lot of weight to the front of the gun which I'm fine with.

Ahh. a good note for the noobs!, but yes I have experienced that before. I had an 11 port SJC comp and had to whack the back off with a hacksaw and then sand flat. It worked for about 1k rounds of minor then a few hundred of major and started to spin...

Thanks for the note. yes this will add a bunch of weight and like you IDC.

AZ gun guy - That shadow 2 looks fantastic! I bet she is a real flat shooter too, sweet build!!

warriorgeez - Ive only got around 30 rounds through it so far, but its been 100% reliable with cheap target ammo. It definitely reduces recoil a little bit with my 115 blazer brass, but I think its really going to shine with some hotter loads. I haven't had much time to shoot lately, but ill keep this thread updated after my next range session.

Anyone check the Cajun gunworks comp out? This is a prototype but looks awesome.

That is pretty awesome looking, thanks for sharing. I am not on instagram so I always appreciate when people share this one-off prototype stuff that tends to be only there (still waiting on those SP01 and P01 aftermarket slides that Primary Machine teased years ago on instagram lol). It is interesting that it looks like they milled recesses down the length of the comp so that it looks like it can run on the internal rails of the SP01 frame, I wonder if that is just aesthetic or has some kind of function? Possibly for a weird franken - build of a P01 slide+comp on an SP01 frame down the road?

Really hoping this comp:
 1. Is steel (unlikely) but it always bothered me that most of these comps are aluminum when they could make them steel and you would get that added weight benefit. I suppose its because manufacturers don't want it to affect slide cycling as much or they don't trust people to change recoil springs.

2. Uses some kind of screw-less mechanism to secure.  I have had really good results with the Volker Precision comp's spring washer + shim system staying threaded and timed properly on my current SP01.  I remember Primary Machine was working on SP01/CZ 75 comp but shelved it permanently because they said they could not get their design to stay timed / tight with the slight rotational play in the CZ-75 barrel lock-up system. So hopefully CGW has some way around that.   Wondering if the hole seen at the top of the comp is for a set screw or for something else? Maybe even for front sight mounting?
