Changing BHP trigger
« on: May 26, 2023, 01:06:13 PM »
I want to put the Cylinder and Slide wide trigger on a Springfield SA-35.
Should this be a simple swap, or can I expect it to need fitting?

It shouldn't need fitting. The Hi Power trigger pivots on its pin and has a spring-loaded bar that pushes up on a transfer bar in the slide. There's no direct connection to the trigger and the sear or hammer. The slides transfer bar pushes down on the sear. The Cylinder and Slide trigger eliminates the magazine safety so that won't need to be put on the new trigger. The two big assets of the C&S trigger are it's slightly wider and the elimination of the magazine safety. Both will help with the triggers feel. I have one on a 1970's Hi Power.

And you may need a BFH to get the pin out. Remember: Right to left for removal, since it's a tapered pin.
No matter where you're going, there you are.

Based on what I have read, the SA-35 doesn’t have a magazine disconnect.

I installed a cylinder and slide trigger on my 40S&W Hypower the only problem I had was it wouldn't reset. I needed to stone a little off the top of the transfer arm. Not sure what to call it, pokey up leaver. It made a big difference in my Browning.

That is the trigger lever. I'm going to order one of those and the Cylinder and Slide extra power trigger return spring at the same time as the trigger.
