We make the 9 hour drive to New Mexico primarily for the cooler conditions and mountain air, but the fine local shooting range is my main interest, at least after the morning sunrise.  Here is what I get to see in the mornings from the deck of a small house on a hill overlooking the village of Ruidoso.  This is at about 7000 feet above sea level.

Then, after sunrise, I get to drive 9 miles to the shooting range at only 6000 feet above sea level, where I may have the entire range to myself for at least an hour.  A typical trip is one day driving, one day acclimating, 4 days shooting/photography/videography, another day driving, then weeks thanking God for the opportunities I've had to enjoy my hobbies and meeting some great people.

Wow indeed, very nice, sir!
When I drive to the range, it's about 15 minutes...

Nice! We visited the area 2 years ago. Had a deer and elk walk through our townhouse unit. Loved it, even talked about summering there. Maybe when we settle down a bit.

Here is one from Saturday, just a 1/2 mile from our house in Central Texas.  Not bad, either, just less scenic than one from the mountains of New Mexico.

Joe,

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures.  Was the second one taken at sunset?

No, sunrise.  I go look almost every morning year round, and there is usually some interesting color or cloud formations once or twice a week here locally, hit rate is a little higher in the mountains of New Mexico.
