CGW bushing job
« on: May 03, 2023, 06:38:10 AM »
what do you think, does the bushing increase accuracy? I am asking as I am sending my PCR in for the pro package and want to know if its worth the extra 90 bucks.
Not sure I need it as the gun is way more accurate than me already....

If the barrel/oem bushing already lock up tight than it won't be a big improvement. It all depends on the individual pistol. It doesn't make every example more accurate, only the ones that were poorly fit from the manufacturer, or those with a worn oem bushing.

Thx Earl, good to know!
I always wondered about the same thing.
I need to check my less than accurate guns for this possible issue.
I presume there would be play between the barrel and the bushing, when the slide is locked back, yes?

You need to check for play while the slide is forward. There will always be play while the slide is locked back, that's normal.

Earl is exactly right. I have 1 75 compact that had poor accuracy out of the box and a bushing change fixed it. BUT that is 1 out of 20 or so 75 variants we have.

Also if I'm not mistaken if you change the bushing you lose the option to put on a threaded barrel.

That is because there is not enough play to install or remove a longer than stock barrel.  With the CGW bushing on my Shadow 2 The barrel _just_ fits when installing or removing it from the frame. With the stock bushing the barrel popped in and out very easily.
