Cz457 22lr
« on: August 26, 2023, 07:27:34 PM »
Just picked up a rifle from BPS/Cabelas.

Plan on taking it to the range on Monday.

Look forward to shooting my first bolt action 22lr.

Congratulations on the new first bolt gun. But a little more info please. What model did you get of the 457 ( Varmint, American, MTR or some other model). Also what type of shooting are you going to be doing ( Bench, offhand or something else)

Thanks, yes it is the American Synthetic suppressor ready

I put a 3x9 scope on it.
Just a bench rest plinking steel gun.

Wish it had a nice wood stock and blued barrel.
Maybe my next one.

Went to the range today, shot the 457.
CCI varmint. (No good)
federal auto-match.  (Decent)
I’ll keep trying other 22lr.
It’s fun and Cheap enough.

You will find out that any subsonic ammo will shoot the best. So any SV (standard Velocity) any brand.

After sighting in my CZ457 Varmint .22 on Monday, I went to a friends ranch up in the hills and eliminated 27 critters in four hours who were eating his chicken ranch eggs.  Great little rifle but can't get the trigger pull below 2lbs. 8oz. ?

If your 457 shoots like my 455 or better, you’ll be pleased with your acquisition.  Love my 455 varmint.

If you go to Rimfire Central, you can find all the steps needed to get the trigger down to 1lb or less. Great trigger to work with as it can be tuned to your needs.

I have a JARD trigger in my MTR it is 8oz. In my Varmint I have the factory trigger with an 8oz. spring in it. It is at 14oz. both very light and crisp. Is the 8oz. JARD worth the money over the factory trigger with the lightest spring ? I really don't think so but depends on your wants and money situation.

I put a Yodave spring in my MTR and am sitting right at a 14oz, predictable trigger. Mine is a benchrest only rifle. If I was carrying it about for small game hinting I would have left the factory spring in.
