Source for flush fit PCR/Compact mags?
« on: September 01, 2023, 01:14:30 PM »
I may be splitting hairs, but is there a source for the old style flush fit 14-round magazines?  Checked Numrich and just about every other surplus site I could find.

The mag baseplates that came with my PCR are thick enough that the grip dimensions are almost the same size as my 75 with the 16-round steel-baseplate magazines.  Not really any more concealable on the hip but it does weigh less.

Anyway, just looking to shave little off.  I've been looking for a DWX Compact mag with the Hennings aluminum baseplate but I reckon I'll be waiting a while.  Does not look like Hennings sells them independently.

Mec-Gar discontinued the flush fit 14 round compact mags some time in the last couple years. I've not seen any in stock anywhere for some time now and they likely are not to be had now unless someone lists some up from their private stock. I like the flush fit mags myself so I'll be hanging onto mine at this point.
The Henning base pad may help shorten the newer 15 rounders a little bit but they still are going to hang out of the gun a fair amount.

I actually found some of the 14-rounders (NOS) and ordered a couple of the Hennings baseplates. After looking at the 15-rounders, I realized the magazine body was long and the thick baseplate just contoured to help fill the gap.

Made the weapon a little more compact but the steel baseplate is contoured up and pinched my hand. The Hennings DWX compact baseplate eliminates the slight finger pinch. Eliminated the lip.

Kinda expensive to shave a little more than 3/16” but…I got what I wanted.

Thanks for the input.

I like the look of the Henning base pad on the 14 round mag much better than the 15 rounders sticking out like they do. May have to pick up a couple of those base pads myself.
