I'm trying to help a friend identify a rifle that he has. It's chambered in .458 Win Mag. The only markings that I can find are as follows:
".458" on the left upper side of the barrel just ahead of the chamber.
a four-digit serial number on left upper side of the receiver.
"CFSKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJUVKA,A.S.,BRNO" on the left side of the receiver.
It appears to be some variant of a Mauser action, at least the bolt is very similar in design to the bolt on a K98. There's a sling stud on the bottom of the barrel about 10" back from the muzzle. The bottom of the pistol grip has some sort of insect embossed on it, maybe a beetle of some sort. The bolt handle has some nice knurling around it's widest point. Barrel length appears to be a little over 22".
I emailed CZ, and received this response:
Thank you for your message.
I am afraid that I will not be able to help here as this rifle was made by a different factory - ZB - Zbrojovka Brno. As this factory no longer exists I would advise asking other gun enthusiasts on social media or online forums for help.
In case of any further questions please open a new ticket via the contact form on our website.
