Reducing Cz 75 pre B Trigger Creep with Spur Hammer
« on: October 01, 2023, 10:40:46 AM »
I have SA creep in my pre B 75 from 1991.  (I can see the hammer move down in SA before it falls) I understand that replacing the hammer with a top notch hammer would improve that.  But I like the spur hammer.  Is there anything practical that I can do to reduce or remove creep while keeping the spur hammer?

It's not recommended to modify the hammer hooks due to the parts only having a case hardening (thin hard layer on outside of part).  They are not hardened through and through.  If you reduce the hammer hook height, you will be removing the hardened steel and could render the gun unsafe over time.

Your best option is to replace the hammer with a "competition hammer" that was designed with shorter hammer hooks.

Other options are to stabilize the sear cage if that is contributing to the felt creep:  https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=85892.0

Additionally you could install an CGW Ultralite kit that will reduce the trigger pull weight and help improve the pull feel but it won't change the creep.  https://cajungunworks.com/product/54460-ultra-lite-kit-for-shadow-and-85-series/

Good luck!

Wouldn't it possibly decrease creep if you use a heavier sear spring and possibly hammer spring? (by heavier, it could be as simple as getting an OEM replacement)

CZ USA used to sell spur hammers that are awesome for a crisp trigger pull.  I've used a couple and I got 3 lb. SA trigger pulls that are so "crisp" they feel lighter than 3 lbs.  Put a trigger pull ga. on them and you won't believe it really is 3 lbs.

On the other hand, those hammers are narrower at the top than the Pre B hammers and would look funny if the hammer is down in the notch in the back of the slide due to the gap on either side of them.

Don't know if they still sell those or not.

CZ75B .40 S&W with one of those hammers (and a CZ85 slide release system).   These hammers are made for the B model guns so they don't look funny on them.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
