New (to me) P10S trigger ridiculously heavy when loaded
« on: October 26, 2023, 05:13:04 PM »
Hello all, my new to me P10S has an amazing trigger when dry firing. Took it to the range today, chambered a round, and almost couldn't pull the trigger! It felt like a 15 pound pull. Managed to put a mag through it and I was all over the place accuracy wise. Unloaded it and dry fired it. Felt amazing. Reloaded and same thing. Stupidly heavy trigger pull. Any thoughts? I'm stumped.

The three most importanat things that come to mind when working with a new platform: practice, practice, and practice. Seriously that's it. Being loaded should have no bearing on trigger feel and most people often report that a heavy dry fire pull often feels pretty good in live fire.

Um, practice won't overcome a mechanical issue but thanks.

OP, do you use a dummy round when dry firing? I wonder if somehow the tension with extractor with a loaded round interferes with the trigger pull.  Just a wild guess.  Even if that’s not the case this is something you can contact the manufacturer to address.  All the best.

Well good luck then. Call CZ-USA and run it by them and see what they say.

Your question is appropriate.

Wait on a response from one of the pro gunsmiths. There's got to a logical explanation.

I just took my P 10S to the range last week and it shot amazing. The trigger pull was light, consistent and it was extremely accurate. Something does not sound right in my humble opinion.  I would have it looked at for sure.

Thanks for the replies.  Upon further inspection I noticed that the slide moves (sometimes) when pulling the trigger!  Dropped it off with my local gunsmith for further evaluation.  Turn around time from him is about three weeks and the cost will be about the same as shipping it back to CZ which would probably take 3-4 months.  Plus he'll do a full fluff and buff.

Considering I've bought and sold well over a hundred guns in my life and this the first time I've been bitten I consider myself lucky.  I'll keep everyone posted on what he finds out.

I look forward to hearing the rest of this story. Be sure to get the full story from your gunsmith. I want to know what caused the slide to contact with the trigger pull.

Sounds like this would be covered under CZ’s warranty.  Have not heard about 3-4 turn around time.

I can only think of one thing that could cause something like that, especially with the "slide moves when I pull the trigger" and that is a defective recoil spring assembly, as in, it is too short as installed, with no spring tension when the slide is supposedly in battery.

That's my internet-quality guess.

did you measure the trigger pull with a scale? your complaint is kind of subjective without that info. my p10s's are both pretty light and crisp at 4.5-5lbs. very similar to my Mako R7 and tweaked 365x. the p10s reset is better than my 365x.
