CZ P10 Series Back Strap Pin Issue
« on: November 09, 2023, 03:35:03 PM »
Hi all;

I signed up for this forum some time ago and finally purchased my first CZ. P10 S. I just got it last week after shooting it and a few other CZ models over the years.

In any case, I decided to change the back strap on mine as it comes with a size Small installed. I watched the video from CZ wherein the tech advised that the punch may go into the pin. And further advised that if this happens to call CZ tech.

Well needless to say, the punch went into the pin. So, I called CZ and was told this is a common issue. I asked if any resolution had been brought up and was told "No."

Further, I was told that the part is on back order until "we have no idea." I worked with the one I had, used a needle nose to re-shape the pin, and all is good to go with mine.

How about a solid pin?? To me it makes sense. But then again, maybe that's just me. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and was it brought to the attention of CZ.

Never had that happen with my p10c or F. Taken it off multiple times. I use a punch that isn't small enough to go inside the pin... I do that with any gun I'm working on.

Just find a roll pin that fits. That's what I did.

I used the roll pin punch indicated by the tech in the video (5/64 roll pin punch). In any case, I was able to work with mine, changed the strap and got the pin back in. Just wondering if anyone else had the issue and if it was brought to the attention of CZ. From the posts, I see neither of you had an issue.

How about a solid pin??
Solid metric pins can be had from any industrial supply house (McMaster, Grainger, Fastenal, etc). But since they do not exert any self-retention force, may work themselves out over time, or at very inconvenient times.

I had the same issue once.  The problem I had was using a roll pin punch instead of a standard 2mm punch. The nub (technical term) on the roll pin punch expanded the back strap pin causing it to deform.  The best way to remove the pin is with a standard metric punch.

I thought i's a 1/16 inch roll pin punch for the backstraps, or is that only the p10 C?

At any rate, the pins you are punching out have teeth and are really hard to get out if you don't have  solid foundation or the right size pin.
Too small of a roller pin punch won't push it hard enough towards the circumference.  And too large of a roll pin punch will destroy the frame/grip.

It's usually the smallest roll pin punch you want to use out of those sets I think.
