Hyve extension question
« on: November 18, 2023, 08:47:34 PM »
Has anyone else had trouble getting a true +3 in a Hyve extension? I like the length and shape of the extension, and it's even better with some properly cut grip tape on the sides. But I can only get one extra round in this thing. Tell me this is just an overly aggressive mag spring that will relax over time. I'm hoping that's the case since it was pretty tough getting the full 10 rounds loaded with the factory butt plate. I just thought the extension would do better than 1 extra round.

It's difficult, but not impossible. I use a Maglula Universal Loader for all of my magazines, due to Arthritic fingers. I do get 13 rounds into the HYVE extended magazines using the loader.

Even with a loader, the spring just won't compress any farther.

Did you take the base plate off the end of the spring? It has to be removed so that the magazine spring can sit on the bottom of the HYVE extensions.

Not sure. Thanks for the post. Did not know Hive made one fore the Rami. I’ve used an aluminum  Mecgar +2 and a modified follower to turn into a 13 rounder. Am curious as to the overall Height. Bottom of mag to top of rear sight.

Yes. The base plate was removed. There's nothing but the spring, follower and 11 rounds in the tube. And that's all it'll take.

Here is the link to the RAMI HYVE extension:- https://hyve-technologies.com/product/3-for-the-cz-2075-rami/. The overall height is 4 & 7/8".

Not sure what to say. Could you have somehow trapped the spring when installing? Is it possible that HYVE sent you the +1 by mistake?  All I can say is that mine takes the full 13 rounds.

Well, they only offer a +0 and a +3 now and I'm sure I ordered the +3. I've already taken it off and put it back on several times. I'm not going through that again. If nothing else, I've got a great grip extension that gives me 11+1 without the rattle of the base 10 round mag.

I tried the Hyve 3+ mag extension, but practically speaking, it wasn’t much smaller than a OEM 14-rd or MecGar 15-rd mag with the OEM Rami mag sleeve, which, IMO, is more ergonomic, simple / reliable and more capacity than the Hyve. YMMV

I suggest that you measure the internal depth of the extensions and contact HYVE to see if they are in specification.
