Please be aware. If you place a 'WTB' ad in the Classifieds and receive an email from someone, typically with under 35 posts, professing to have the item you want - Treat it with extreme skepticism.
These scum predominantly use 'gmail' email addresses and trawl gun forums looking to separate members from their hard earned money. They use easily obtainable pictures from gun sites to give authenticity to their offers. A member here has already lost $400 with little to no chance of getting it back.
The scammer concerned in this incident used the alias 'Michael Spector' and the user name 'Riddid'. The same alias has also been used on Sigforum.Com in attempts to steal there too.
I suggest the following:
1. Go to your Profile and enter Account Settings and modify it to uncheck the box 'Allow users to email me'. (Be aware this also limits all email contact.)
2. If you receive an email responding to your 'WTB', require the sender to post in your ad. This will supply you with their CZF user name. This allows you to do step #3 and #4....
3. Perform a 'Google' search - not a Bing, DDG, or any other search engine, but a Google search on the names, address, and user names supplied.
4. By clicking on the user's name, displayed in the LH margin, you'll be able to peruse their CZF posts. Typically these will be garbage 'filler' posts (such as "That's what I do.") used to bump their post total to the number that gives them access to member profiles (currently 25) and often, but not always, there will be grammar mistakes that suggest that English is not their native language.
5. Report any problems immediately to board staff and do not, DO NOT delete any emails or PMs that you have received before doing so.
6. We will co-operate fully with Law Enforcement in any investigations instigated to deter or catch these scammers, although there are some limits as to what we can do.
7. Mods and Admins can also assist you by comparing their email used to register which we can always see.
