Newbie trying to get information on CZ 27
« on: December 23, 2023, 10:45:37 AM »
I just got on this forum this morning, trying to get some answers on an old CZ I inherited. I’ve had it for about 15 -16 years and recently decided to investigate it more.  It was brought back as a souvenir by my great uncle when he was in WW2, the only thing that I know about it is that it is an early model marked CZ 27 with wood grip. It’s a 380 acp, I have fired it when I was a teenager so I know for sure that it is a 380. I have read all the posts on here and was confused by some saying that it’s a CZ 24, it has some numbers stamped on the metal part of the handle below the trigger guard that is throwing me off since I have not seen any posts that have had this particular information in them. I have recently had some serious health issues and both of my grown sons are convicted felons so I won’t be passing it on to either of them. Just trying to figure out what I have before I have my auction. I guess I forgot to mention that it is in what appears to be in an original holster that has a pocket with one magazine in it and the handgun itself has a magazine in it as well. I will put some pictures of it on here as soon as I can figure out how to do it, I came across one for sale on Guns.com but it was in terrible condition and didn’t have any magazines or holster it was sold as a CZ 27 380 and was described as being very rare in this caliber.

Since they look alot alike here are photos of my CZ24 (top) and CZ27 (bottom).
Besides the caliber, the main distinguishing feature are the notch orientation on the back of the slide:

FB1972 - You have a CZ 24 that was manufactured or proofed in 1927 (assuming it has a “27” on it).  The CZ 24 is chambered  in .380 acp.  The CZ 27 is chambered in .32 acp (7,65).

The numbers / letters on the front side of the grip are commonly referred to as “Unit Marks”.  What are the numbers / letters on yours?

When you clean it please, please, please, PLEASE do not  scrub it or use an abrasive, . . . not even a rough paper towel.  The finish on theses pistols is almost 100 years old.  All you should do is wipe it down with CLP or REM Oil (buy at Walmart) and a soft cloth.  If you do more than that you will harm the value.

I collect CZ 24s and CZ 27s.  I’d love to see pictures. (you can send to four six nine - 396 - 9727)
