The Army Museum in the Zizkov district of Prague finally reopened last Fall after a four-closure and near total renovation. Entry is free as it is part of the military history institute under the MOD. There are three other museums covering aviation (in a Prague suburb), a land technical museum (about an hour’s drive outside of the city and only open in the warmer months) and the memorial to the heroes of the Heydrich terror.
The Army museum covers a period from the early 1700s to present time in various wings. One of the most striking exhibits is the one for the early semi-automatic Army pistols between the two Wars. The display includes experimental pistols such as a vz.24 DAO and 9mm Para chambered vz.29 and vz.38.
