P-01 safety/decocker
« on: January 26, 2024, 12:02:06 PM »
Most of the P-01s I see have the decocker.  But then once in a great while I see one with a safety.  Does the P-01 come with a safety or is that a custom job?

There have been limited runs of the P-01 with a safety but they cannot be customized that way. The P-01 OMEGA convertible is however swappable from decocker to safety.

I've got one CZ called a Compact L. Made in 2013. Pretty hard to find.

I don't think anyone knows for sure. Could be Compact with light rail, perhaps Compact light because it is an alloy frame. My understanding is they were sold through CZ Custom.

To add to the confusion, the box for my Compact L states “Longer barrel”.  The barrel on the Compact L isn’t any longer than a P-01 or Compact.  I am in agreement that nobody knows with absolute certainty what the L stands for.

There are a FEW old school Compacts made with safeties and what seen to be PCR frames also.

I would MUCH prefer a P01 with a manual safety.  There also was a P02 made for a time.  The Omega has already been mentioned.

The current Shadow 2 Compact also has a manual safety.

It is TOUGH going to get a P01 with a decocker to get even close to the smoothness of a CZ with manual safety.  Trust me.
