P-09 Modifications
« on: January 31, 2024, 10:26:06 AM »
Looking for some suggestions on things that I can do to achieve a better shooter here. My P-09 was purchased directly from CGW with their pro package, Dawson sights, stainless guide rod.

I stippled the grip myself. Doesn't look amazing but I'm not about to spend $250+ to have someone give it a pretty look when the texture is all I'm after.

I'm thinking about having the slide cut for a SRO or Holosun variant. Who should I be looking to send it off too?

Also, I'm planning on getting a magwell, but every time I start to purchase one I end up not doing it. I'm leaning towards the one from Springer precision because it's offered in black. But I'm open to suggestions.

Shot some yesterday. Did some speed drills at 10 yards.

I wouldn't touch the internals, based on your target.

I love red dots, and there are many places to get the slide cut.  Primary Machine and CGW are two.  I have used both Burris and Holosun sights with good results.  You could even try a dovetail mount for a red dot if you are not sure about the red dot.  I still have dovetail mounts in range only service on three pistols.  The cut slide is certainly "better" but not a must have requirement.

Hard to beat a P-09.

Impact Machine in Louisiana is a great choice for slide milling. Scott is the son of David Milam, owner of CGW.

I'll have to send them a email. I just heard back from CGW and they got a 8 week wait just to get on their work list and then another 8 weeks for turn around.

I'm a patient person, but I'm not waiting 16 weeks for a slide cut.

Had Primary Machine cut my P07 and P09 slide for the RMR and back up rear sight (in front of the RMR) and ceracote the slides about 10 years ago or a little more.  Zero issues with either gun.  The finish on the P07 still looks good with wear through only on the front corners of the slide where it's in/out of a holster all the time.

No idea what their wait times are these days.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
