P-10S at 100 yards, 5 min video

This went well.  Especially for a 3.5" barrel inexpensive polymer striker subcompact.

All three of my P-10 pistols shoot very accurately at 100 and 200 yards.  Never ceases to amaze me.

Very nice.  I was shooting my P10S offhand at 170 yards at a torso target a few days ago.  Surprisingly easy to make hits once I figured out where to hold.

Exactly!  More people should try it.  In your case, I would have started off holding about 3 feet high starting from a 25 yard zero.  I can't do that with iron sights.  I can do it with a red dot.  Especially if I just hang an aim point on a stick about 3 feet above the target, or a little higher at 200.

At that distance I was just happy to hit the target!  It was a full size torso target, so I just aimed about 1 head height higher than the top.  It was pretty funny to hear a half second gap between the shot and the impact.

Exactly, love the feedback from a steel target.  When I get bored shooting paper, if I'm having a good day and am in New Mexico, I like to shoot at the 24x24 steel at 200 and the 12x24 at 100 yards.  I'll even set up a video camera 20 feet away from the steel so I can see the hits and hear the impact in the video when I get home.  And I'll try it single hand standing and two handed standing.  Single hand is just luck at 200.  But, with no wind and no caffeine, two handed at 200 can be done fairly often.

I have seen guys shoot at 12 yards and leave a target looking like bird shot load shot gun blasts!

I've done that, too.  But it has been a few years ago.  We all have to start somewhere.  When I first started shooting pistols, I spent a lot of time "chasing the sights" moving the rear sight a little left or a little right, filing the front or rear sight to get the elevation right.  It all stopped once I learned how to pull the trigger without moving the gun and quit changing ammo choices.

Joe,
Great shooting! I've taken up more distance shooting because of your influence. I shoot open iron sights standing. I'm going to do so as long as my 66 year old body & eyes allow.

Shooting and testing my recently acquired 75B in .40, I was shooting at the 50, 75, and 100 yard steels. 11" diameter. As you said, fun to hear them ring. The 75B is experiencing some extraction issues, so I pulled out my Ruger Mark II Gov't model. Towards the end of that session, I double tapped the 100 yard steel. I'll admit it was an accident. It was cold, I wear no gloves and with a 1.5lb trigger, I popped off a second shot. 😂

Keep up the great work, I enjoy watching your talent.

Steve,

Yep, steel is fun at distance.  No evidence if one misses, and a little noise if one hits it!   From a mental standpoint, steel is "more fun" but only after I know where to hold.  A spotter is a big help if I can't shoot paper first.

I struggled with light triggers and went back to 2.5-3.5 lb pulls on the pistols, even on the .22.  I am just too tentative with the light triggers, and I finally learned how to pull the heavier trigger without moving the gun by shooting bullseye matches for six years.  I still think bullseye is the toughest shooting discipline I've ever attempted.
