CZ Patents and Copyrights?
« on: March 15, 2024, 12:02:05 PM »
I understand that CZ75 and other firearms from CZ were designed in the east bloc and aren't subject to any sort of patents or copyrights. From Sphinx CH you see similiar designs and Zestava even uses the CZ99 model number. How does CZ USA claim copyrights and patents?

The company is still around and makes new products and it doesn't appear as if these are needed in any way to protect them as they still sell these designs and people seek out the real product from them even if someone else can make it cheaper or even better in the case of Sphinx.

CZ USA has a section on their website that explains some of this. You can go look it up and read it for yourself. Maybe you could explain what your point is anyway as well. Obviously by your intro in the new members section you really are not interested in the guns.

As a whole the ColtCZ Group holds numerous patents and trademarks around the world. While you are correct about some of the earlier models that is not the case with more recent products. As the other member mentioned it would probably be helpful if you were more clear on what you actually want to know. Also, you can easily search most of this as many patents are public information searchable in European and U.S.A. databases (respective patent offices).
