Red Dot to Co-Witness With New Scorpion 3+ Factory Sights
« on: March 16, 2024, 01:52:29 PM »
I just bought the Scorpion 3+ pistol today & was hoping that the Holosun 510C would be a good match. However, I mounted one on the pistol at the gun shop, but the base sat too high to co-witness.  The base was actually so high on the 510C, that I couldn't even line the front and rear sights up.

I've searched the web, but I can't find anything.  Can anybody recommend a red dot that will co-witness?

I don't understand the need to co-witness iron sights with a mounted red dot.  The viewing window on red dots is small and to block part of the view with iron sites doesn't make sense to me.
The HS510C comes with a quick release base mount so should it fail you can quickly remove it.

In the heat of the moment, with something like home invasion, etc., I don't want to have to deal with removing an optic, even if it is quick release.  Disregarding that, co-witnessing is a very popular method for having backup sights.  There are dozens of online articles singing its praises.

CZ USA even states on their website that "The adjustable four aperture aluminum sights are updated to deliver lower 1/3 co-witness with popular red dots, providing a better sight picture and reliable backup."

As I recall, the metal flip up BUIS that came on the 3+ are very low compared to most BUIS.

I use Kriss plastic BUIS on the 3+, but you could use any others, Magpul, etc. with a @ 1” mount for your RDS. It’s cheap insurance if your RDS craps out in the heat of the moment, plus keeping the front BUIS up all the time helps me acquire the target faster.

Thanks for that info.  Unfortunately, the sights are fixed (don't flip up/down) on the 3+, although they seem pretty low.  I was using an Aim Point Pro with the Magpul flip ups that came stock on my Colt & I had to use a riser to get co-witness with them.  I'm just trying to save a few bucks and the factory sights seem pretty good.  I may have to look at some aftermarket sights, though.  I'll take a look at the Kriss sights.

The metal sights on my 3 plus carbine co witness perfectly with a Romeo 5 with low mount. A little cluttered though, but after shooting a bit you don’t even see the sights just the dot.

HS403 with the lower mount (included) cowitness well. With the larger iron ghost ring it doesn't block too much and works nicely. It is a bit low though (like the iron sight), and maybe a solution where the iron goes through the mount would be better.

I am also looking at a Holosun HS510C for my carbine. If it doesn't work out there are other things I can use it on.
