Tisas 1911’s. Anyone with recent experience?
« on: November 18, 2023, 12:36:41 PM »
While I’m waiting on DW to come out with an optics ready variant of the DWX, I’m sorely tempted to buy one of Tisas 1911’s to tinker with.

Local GS has their Raider model for a somewhat decent price.

Looks like it would be a good basis for a project gun.

Anyone with experience?

I don't have personal experience with them, but I can say that they love them on the 1911 forum.
No matter where you're going, there you are.

I have never seen one in person at our local stores.  I don't know why they don't keep a couple.   If they had one I would buy one.  They keep Rock Island usually or will order one for you.  That's how I ended up getting my 9mm RIA.  I may have to ask about getting one.  Most any forum that discusses them really like them for quality and price.  The only people that talk them down are the high dollar guys.  If they are cheap they have to be junk.  I have never shot a high dollar gun so I will never know.  My RIA GI is the best shooting gun I have.

Thanks to both.

In regards to expensive guns….

At one point some people used to dig on CZ because of cost. Some still do.

I think I’m going to give it a try.

If interested, I’ll report back. I really just want something to classify in single stack. Don’t need expensive.

I have heard they are good, but for that price range I would rather a tiny bit more and get the Rock Island Armory ones from the Philippines, a much better ally than Turkey.  They have had their basic GI versions for ~$350 or so recently

Ended up being a moot point. The Tisas I was interested in was $630. Worked out a deal on a Springfield Operator (slightly used) for $850.

No geopolitical dilemmas.

What model were you looking at? I’ve been telling myself not to order a 1911 Zig D10 model for $590 all in. Plus I got rid of all my 10mm stuff.

The Tisas Raider in .45.

LGS here in VA was $629 but they haggle.

On a side note, the 2019 Springfield Operator PX9105LL18, is a tack driver.

Bought a Tisas for $400 so I could learn how to work on 1911 style guns before attempting to change triggers on my Staccatos.

I had a devil-ray.  Solid all steel gun but not true novak sights so it's difficult to swap out without a  lot of fitting.

I just got a match SS in 45ACP
for the money it has a lot of features. it is very shootable and so far has been running great.
I'm setting it up for some USPSA/IDPA matches and it will be great.

if I were going to be picky, yes some things can be better, but this is good value for the money for sure.

I dabble in 1911 goodness.. and honesty nothing works out of the box.. if it does it is likely worn out or undersized.. or a glock.

Look for a GI issue or Wilson combat. I love the GI I inherited and will never part with it.

Tisas recently issued a recall on some of its 1911s. I'd be wary.
