My RAMI has been giving me FTFs for too long. After many trials and costs here is my solution. I had Cajun Gun Works in Louisiana for a full professional upgrade. This made all the innards work more smoothly. I have added Wolff mag springs to all my 14rd mags. My 10rd mags run with no FTF problems. (My CZ75 SP01 Tactical mags do fit and run in my RAMI, but they too have produced FTF.) A critical component that I have installed are my recoil springs from DPM which are made in Greece and sold here in the USA. I have no more FTF with FMJ 9mm ammo. But I still had FTF with 9mm HP ammo. The lip of the HP bullet would hang up on the RAMI feed ramp repeatedly. I tried many different shape and grain HP ammo but there still are FTFs. My gun range suggested I try NOVX defensive ammo as it is lighter and has a shaped round nose. I have tried several mags with the NOVX 9mm+P 65gr self-defense (1,800 FPS). I have had no more FTF with this NOVX ammo. It make my carry my lighter to carry and I have confidence restored in my carry. I love the handling of my RAMI and now it is fully usable.
I hope this information is beneficial for you all. It has worked for me and I hope it works for you.
A couple of things:
1. The rule of thumb on the Rami OEM outer recoil spring is to change it out every 500 rounds or so. They are only @ $6 each so are considered a disposable maintenance item. However, since Colt-cz discontinued the Rami a couple of years ago, no telling if parts will be available. Hopefully Wolff or somebody will step in to fill the void.
2. The feed ramp on the Rami is pretty steep, much steeper than on the Compacts. When I had issues early on, I lightly polished the feed ramp with a felt tipped bullet-shaped Dremel tool attachment. Have not had any issues since with any HPs I’ve fed her.
I bought one of those DPM recoil springs for the Rami a while back, but haven’t had time to try it. Let us know how it works out!
