So, I'm indulging my pet peeves with this post:
Does it bug anyone else that almost every review of the VZ 58 spends the first half explaining why it's different from an AK, rather than just reviewing it as the rifle it is?
I think they do so because you have to meet folks where they're at (i.e., general familiarity w/ the AK), and then get into the many benefits and few detriments of the Vz58 design vs. the kalashnikov... It also allows them to create more "content" with at least an add'l vid worth of material for this somewhat and increasingly niche platform.
And given the many discussions of Vz58 vs AK vs AR, etc., here I think the discussion of why you might want to invest your hard-earned dollars into this weapon system vs. others is a legitimate one, especially now that they're $1,500 dollars and largely just new -- folks now aren't just building one b/c of cheap $200 or less parts kits...
FALs went through a somewhat similar evolution for anyone whose been a modern milsurp enthusiast for a couple decades now..
My biggest "gripe" if you will with reviews in the past few years is that there isn't more discussion regarding Czechpoint's near-monopoly.
