What was the original finish on this particular make and model of pistol? Was it blued? Was it a matte or glossy finish? You can’t tell from it now but does anyone know based on the year, and model? Thanks.

I would say it was probably a blued finish. Not sure if it was matte, glossy or semi gloss.

Finally got to range with the TZ-75. Shot out along side my EDC SIG P365 X-Macro. Clearly the TZ’s barrel is worn. But it functioned flawlessly with three very different ammo types. Now the question I have is, where do I find a “new” barrel for it? Also, does Cajun gun works or similar company make a trigger upgrade?

I’m a fairly decent shot. These were slightly rushed with both pistols as it was 100° in the shade at the range. I don’t handle such heat very well anymore.

For Tanfos, the go to place is Patriot Defense.

https://patriotdefense.com/shop/firearm-parts/tanfoglio-parts/

Or possibly Numrich.
No matter where you're going, there you are.

Indeed, I second that. The link for Numrich is https://www.gunpartscorp.com/

Typical Finish on Tanfoglio Pistols from it's time frame was a matte Blue.

Not sure that your accuracy test was indicating a worn Barrel, as this was a rushed range session. I would Chronograph some loads to see if there was a substantial velocity loss.
I would also cork the Chamber, put vinegar or solvent in the barrel, and let it soak for a couple of days to remove more carbon. Go easy on the Bore Paste stuff, as it can wear a bore.

If accuracy does not improve and there is substantial velocity loss, the latter indicating a worn throat, by all means, replace that barrel.
Also note that Barrel twist rate for Tanfoglio Pistols of that time frame was 1 turn in 14 inches which favored light 100 to 124 grain Bullets.
Current Barrel Twist Rates are 1 turn in 10 inches or 1 turn in 12 inches, depending upon model.

You may have to contact IFG/Tanfoglio for a Barrel.

That’s a new one to me. Will definitely be trying this. Thanks j.

I will try again from 7yds and go nice and slow. I’ve done better with other pistols. Ammo I tested was a mix including 108 Norma MHP’s, S&B 150 subs and Swiss 124 Tombacs. The 150’s and Tombacs did better than the 108’s. Tombacs did best. I will clean bore better. I have other solvents. Will vinegar not hurt bore for that period of time?

I actually have a small ultrasonic cleaner I may just through the entire gun in and see if that helps.

Typically, No! But if you are uncomfortable with the idea, use your other solvents.
You could also limit the time to two to three hours.

Normally, I just use Vinegar as a regular Bore solvent. I also use it in a Tumbler to clean Pistol Brass for reloading.

Does using vinegar on brass require a follow up rinse in water plus baking soda or similar to stop the vinegars action? Is a water rinse sufficient?

A rinse in plain Tap Water is quite sufficient!  :)

I bought JB bout paste because of the reviews and JB says it doesn’t harm bores. I have no doubt other polishing paste would remove material. What makes you think JB will do the same? Just curious.

How long does it take for Tanfoglio to reply to email inquiries? I sent them an email concerning my pistol with it serial number requesting any information they can provide a few weeks ago. Just wondering what I could expect.
