17rd mag Rami Magazine (with 17rd spring) possible?
« on: February 12, 2024, 10:36:42 AM »
Is it possible to change the spring in the 14 rd magazine to a full size spring to increase rounds? I read somewhere that someone had achieved it but it was just a comment on an old review page.

Let me know if anyone has done this with success.

Thanks.

Not sure I understand.

Are you trying to stuff 17 rounds into a 14 rd. CZ mag? You might be able to get the 17 rd. Spring in there, but it would likely reduce the capacity of the mag. If you put a 10 rd. Spring in there, it may increase the capacity but not feed reliably.

It might work if you got an extended floor plate, but for that kind of money and effort, I’d just use your Rami mag sleeve on a Mec Gar 17 rd mag.

I had read somewhere someone changing the springs on the 14 rd with CZ parts and getting it to hold 17. May have been confused in my original wording

I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty confident that a standard 17 or even 19 round CZ75 magazine will work in a Rami, though the mag will stick out.. I have one and will give it a try and let you know if it doesn't work.

Edit: Larger standard magazines definitely work in the Rami.
Changing springs as mentioned in the initial post above doesn't seem like a valid approach, but maybe I don't understand...

I have 19 and 21 round mags that do work in the RAMI. TYried them the other night. They are for my Tanfoglio TZ-75 and are MEC-GAR.

I concur,
I have had full size magazines fit and feed in the RAMI.
uncomfortable to hold since they do not have a sleeve but if you were SHTF that would not matter much.

But to carry it would obviously not be ideal and I can understand wanting to see if you could increase the capacity of the smaller mags.
But as others said I think your reliability would be an issue and nothing is worse than an unreliable gun in a life or death situation.
