Is the “Compact” steel frame Tanfoglio considered one of their “large frame” pistols?
And here is where all the Large Frame/Small Frame confusion comes in.
There have have been importations of
Compact Tanfoglio Pistols using both Large Frame
AND Small Frame versions of their Pistols.
Back when EAA was the sole importer of Tanfoglio Pistols, EAA Management decided to import only the Large Frame Versions of Tanfoglio Pistols.
Also, they decided to switch Magazine Suppliers from Mec-Gar to Sabatti. Read lowest bidder here. What followed was a string of angry
customers, whose Pistols did not feed and it was a real mess! EAA lost a lot of customers to Sarsilmaz, whose Small Frame Tanfoglio Clones worked
and worked very well. Trouble for you here is that Sarsilmaz has yet to play in the 10mm Pond.
Also, the Large Frame Tanfoglio Pistols gave up direct compatibility with Mec-Gar Cz75B 17 and 19 round Magazines.
Mec-Gar was brought back in to straighten out the designs and QC problems, but a lot of damage had been done.
EAA later dropped the Tanfoglio line, which is how we got IFG.
Sorry for the history lesson, but I needed to provide context.
As far as I know, IFG/Tanfoglio only imports the
Full Size and
Compact Small Frame Pistols in 9mm and maybe .40 S&W.
Full Size Large Frame Pistols are imported in 10mm, .38 Super, and .45 ACP.
What I would do If I were you, is try to find a good used Compact .45 and get IFG/Tanfoglio to sell you a Compact 10mm Conversion kit for it.
You could also buy a Full Sized 10mm and put a Compact 10mm Conversion Kit on it, giving you a nice Mid-Sized Pistol.
