Seeking SP01 Shadow like safety for S2
« on: September 05, 2024, 08:06:23 AM »
I really love everything about the SP01 Shadow, including the slightly downward facing and lowered safety.

Does any company make a S1 like extended safety for the Shadow2?  For me, the production/oem S2 safety is at a 90deg angle to the frame and not quite as comfortable.

I'm not positive but I'm guessing you could put a S1 safety on and S2 frame with little to no fitting.  They both are the D safety type so it should just fit.  I don't own a S1 but assume the SP01 Shadow has the same frame width as the S2?  That could be the issue if the S2 frame is wider than the Sp01 Shadow.  You might be able to fit a TS safety if that is the case as it is a wide frame like the S2.

I have a TS safety and could verify fitment on my S2 if you are interested.

Cheers,
Toby

Oh my goodness.  The safety in the pic below of the old TS looks like it's similiar to what I'm interested in!   Thank you!

If you have free time, that would be helpful to know if it worked on a S2

The TS frame and S2 is the same width. So the TS safety will fit and function on the S2 even on some compacts with ambidextrous safeties. Some minor fitting if any, if you replaced the hammer.

it’ll work in a TS, TSO, Czechmate and Shadow 2.

If you’re interested, PM me.

Just to follow up on this thread.  Yes, the TS safety does fit into hole and it does seem to function perfectly well with the slide off.

Issue #1:  The bottom of the safety and the slide release touch when trying to engage the safety.

Issue #2:  I'm unable to use my existing female/right S2 flat safety.  The male/left TS stem is either to big or the female/right flat safety is to small. (trying to keep my mind out of the gutter here)

Now the question is do I want to cut/trim/sand to make it fit the way I want?

the fit is generally very tight between the right and left levers via the D shaped hole.  If you didn't get a right side safety lever with the TS safety, I'd opt to fit the TS Safety lever to the Shadow 2 right side lever so if you wanted to revert you don't change the original safety fitment.

Are you sure they don't fit, I'd check outside the gun if they fit together or not.  Sometimes getting it all lined up in the gun is a pain.

For the interference with the slide release, I'd just remove the front edge of the safety to get it to clear properly.  You can cold blue it but it doesn't last long.  I'd consider having it refinished once the reshaping is complete and you like the ergo's.

Cheers,
Toby
