CGW website inaccessible?
« on: October 07, 2024, 02:58:10 AM »
A few days ago I noticed I can no longer access the Cajun gun works website. It just says 403 Forbidden. I am in Europe and know they do not ship direct to customers here, maybe that is the reason. But at the same time there are importers that sell their parts here and accessing the CGW website is very handy in order to check information on parts and figuring out what to ask importers to get.

What is the reason I cannot access the website and will it be fixed?

I am not in Europe, but try turning off your VPN if you have it active.  That might get you access, not sure.

When I was in Europe recently there were a couple of firearm sites that I could not get on depending on which country I was in.
SP-01 Tactical

2075 Rami B (9 mm), 85 trigger/reach reduction kit
75 SC Massada
97 B CGW reach reduction kit/‘flat’ trigger/race hammer
457 Varmint MTR

P10C OR SR
Dan Wesson Valor V-bob black Duty finish

I don't use VPN and neither my ISP or my government restricts sites I can visit. It should be server side that does this.

I have no trouble pulling it up

From which country?

It works in the US.  The problem likely is the CGW site administrator needs to adjust the authentication and credentialing.  It’s your login identification and the CGW site is not allowing access.  Try accessing from another location like a coffee shop.

I just realized another possible cause. CGW may have blocked a range of IPs for spamming their website.  Lots of spammers intentionally use IPs from “safe” countries to spoof anti spam software.

There are many possible explanations, but let's start with the basics. Try using this link...

Thanks but that does not work. I have tried from several networks.

Some of the misguided attempts to make the world safe for kids, use a simple URL name scan. If the word "gun" is in the URL address, then the site gets automatically blocked. Try some of these links and see which ones get blocked...

https://cajungunworks.com/

https://www.budsgunshop.com/

https://www.sprinco.com/

https://shootsteel.com/

https://czcustom.com/

https://www.gunsamerica.com/

https://www.wideners.com/

https://hodgdonpowderco.com/

https://www.nightfision.com/

https://www.powdervalley.com/

All these are valid sites, and most have in-your-face gun graphics. But the makers of the software don't go to the actual web sites, they simply use the contents of the name as a basis to block. Example: If there was an Australian bungee jumping site known as "Jumping Under" then it would get blocked for using the URL https://www.jumpingunder.com/
In God we trust; On 'Starting Load' we rely.

I am also from Europe and I’m getting the same error as you. 403. When I turn on the VPN, it works. It's a shame that CGW set it up like that. Even though it’s hard to get their parts here, sometimes they are available in a few stores. If and when you buy something, it’s good to have a user guide and/or product specifications available online. Such a shame.

Yes it's a shame. They work with an exporter and some shops in Europe well their parts. It would be very good to be able to check their website for specifications etc before ordering from local resellers.
