15-20 mph and gusty, P-10S at 100 yards Tuesday
« on: October 29, 2024, 08:44:05 PM »
I struggled in the wind last week on Thursday in a relatively mild wind, maybe 10-15 mph.  I had better groups with the P-10S than with the 97B"E".  The forecast for today (Tuesday) was for stronger winds in the morning and rain in the afternoon, so I went to range at 9am to shoot the P-10S again at 100 yards.

The first five shots were wild, but it was me, not just the wind.  I calmed down and thought about it a little more and decided to just grip the gun a little tighter to see if I could hold it a little steadier in the cross wind.  It worked!  A tighter grip, plus calming down, seemed to work well for the last 15 rounds of target 1 and the for the first 10 on target 2.  But, after 30 rounds, I got a little sloppy and pulled 4 of 10 shots a little low.  I included the shots in the video, just to prove I wasn't as consistent as I know I can learn to be, LOL.  Here is a 4 minute video, with the dead time between shots edited out.

In spite of the 16 shots out of 40 out of the black for the day, I think this was a good day, with 24 of 40 in the black in the strong wind and two 6" ten shots groups (not 10 sequential, however).

This is fun.  This is not easy.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the dot+circle reticle on the Holosun is a plus, simply because the tiny dot stays round.  I'm having more days when the Burris FF3 3 moa dot goes oblong vertically which makes a center hold "challenging".  And the problem may be my eyesight and not the sight itself, except that it doesn't happen on the Holosuns, at least when the large circle is activated.

The P-10S is proving to be the equal of the larger guns at 100 and 200 yards, and that is a little surprising, I would think.

Have heard great things about the Holosun dot+circle reticle. Once again thanks for sharing the video.
