Trying to talk myself out of a DWX
« on: December 29, 2024, 01:14:16 PM »
Considering buying a DWX but am having second thoughts. Would be buying for USPSA.

Long story short, been shooting USPSA for about a year and have decided I’m “B” class for life. I’m in my 50’s, have lived an eventful life, the miles are finally catching up with me and I can’t seem to stick with one thing. I like to tinker. I shoot local competitions for fun.

I vacillate between a P10F OR or a milled SP-01 Shadow for carry optics but will occasionally shoot a PCC, single stack or Para DS clone in Limited 10 Major because I own them and have a soft spot for 1911’s and AR’s.

I’ve been setting money aside and I’m torn between a Shadow 2 Orange-OR or a DWX. I’m leaning towards the DWX because the Shadow 2 would basically relegate my old SP-01 Shadow to the stable (and I have a supply of small parts) but it could be shot in either CO division or I could dress it up a bit to shoot Limited Optics. It’s also cheaper.

The DWX would be a LO gun only but I do have a soft spot for 1911’s. Been looking at other 2011 type pistols and have shot a few. To me Stacatto is over priced for what you are getting. Plastic grip, plastic trigger. Basically made a 2011 feel like a Glock. Accurate as sin, but for my hands, I prefer the Prodigy. Just don’t like the idea of buying a $1300 pistol, only to add $200-$300 worth of internals. Handled, but didn’t shoot the DWX when it came out. Still darned expensive but reviews indicate it comes pretty well tuned. I’m OK with a 4lb trigger. I also like that it will take CZ75 grip panels and TS mag wells. I also have a boatload of mags.

I also found a CZC A01-SD competitively priced but I’d have to wait on optics or scavenge from another pistol. At the end of the day, I can be a middling shooter with a $400 P10 or a $2500 Gucci gun.

How are you all liking the DWX?  Any gripes?

I do not shoot competition so I can't help there. I do collect CZs and shoot them. I got a DWX compact and a shadow 2 compact at about the same time. I like the Shadow 2 compact better. I have a full size DWX and it is an OK gun. I prefer my full size Shadow 2 and like my TS2 green much better. I suspect the TS2 orange would be very much like the green

Appreciate the reply.

I went ahead and ordered one. I guess I’ll see and/or get a divorce.

Now to figure out optic plates.
