Made some grips for my 97B
« on: December 30, 2024, 09:04:13 PM »
I decided to give my 97B a new look, so I modeled the grips and 3D printed a set in orange and a set in blue:

For some reason, the backing reflects thru when printed, but I don't mind. I like both colors and how they feel. I may end up putting some grip tape on them, but for now, I like the solid color.

Those look pretty smooth in the photos, but if they work for you... great.

Did you develop the .STEP files yourself, or download them from a public directory ?

I ask, only because I'd like to try a set too.

Wobbly,

I modeled them in Blender, and then exported them to *.stl files. I use the CURA slicer. I can export to 3mf, and maybe some others. Give me your email address and I'll send them to you.

I did get a little off on some of my adjustments when modeling, so I had to put in a slight notch for the mag release on the right grip. Other than that, they fit just fine.

Don't own a 97. Just thought if you had downloaded the file, it might have been from a public CZ handgun directory with other grip models.

But thanks for your reply.

A google search for CZ grip stl returns quite a few hits for various CZ models.

I originally had downloaded a CZ97 grip stl, but the model  was a bit different in shape, wasn't very "clean" internally and didn't print out very well. I tried to clean it up a bit, but couldn't get anything I liked. My version, while not prefect, is much better.

I made a template for grip tape if I decide to apply some:

Doesn't look too bad!

I did add the grip tape. I like it with and without. I'll leave it on for a while, and then decide if I'll leave it on or take it off.

Wanted to see what green grips would look like:

They look pretty good too!

That's probably all I'll do for now. I think my favorites are the green and orange, though I'll probably use the blues from time to time.

Good one!

The right side now has the green grip installed. I had made some minor refinements and printed the left side first. Thought it would be interesting showing the backstrap with green and orange grips.

Did you notice that the vertical cuts on the backstrap were poorly made? They look to be offset from the center.

Anyway, full speed ahead!

Still working on my modeling skills, so I made a mag base:

I only have PETG filament in colors, so I won't be using this base, but it does look good with the grips.
