P-09 C Nocturne sights
« on: January 11, 2025, 05:17:45 PM »
Ok, so far so good.  I have been wanting a P07 for ages, just never pulled the trigger.  I picked up a P09 C Nocturne.  It's been reliable, but I hit consistently a few inches low.
I had one of the range guys check it out, he hit the same way.  My eyes aren't what they used to be, but when I am on, using my P01 i can call the number on the target to hit.

If i change the sight picture to place the center dot of the front sight above the two rear dots I do really good.

Should I get an adjustable rear sight of just try to get a taller rear sight?

Thanks

1- don’t focus on the dots, ensure the front post top is in line with the top of the rear sights.  Sometimes the dots are off.  Are you using a combat sight picture or a lollipop?.  If lollipop, try a combat.  That’s what I use and I’ve been successful in my IDPA/ USPSA games.

2- what ammo weight are you using?  You say you are shooting low, try a 124 or 147 gr bullet- heavier bullets hit higher

Good luck

Combat sight picture.  I'm looking into a taller rear sight.  I haven't found an adjustable one I like.

You should have an easier time finding sights since the Nocturnes use an Sig sight cut. Maybe getting a shorter front sight may help. The sights on mine were dead on, but I only shoot 124gr.

How far away were you  from your target? This makes a difference on how high or low it might shoot.

so I am looking for sights for mine, I have read the rear is a 8, but I have read the front sight should be a 6, and on some pages a 8,
can anyone confirm which one is the most correct one to use

--------update--------

factory- 150 rounds I was almost dead on 15Y

with the 8/8 replacements at 15y I was about 2" low shooting 150 rounds

the difference between the OEM was F to B about 0.020 taller in the back

the aftermarket 8/8 was about 0.005 taller in the back

I couldn't find anyone that has 10/8 or 8/9 sights

I would check out https://dawsonprecision.com/ they might be the best chance to find the right one you need

they also have a sight math calculator to help get the right sites the first time

hope this helps everyone out

I just picked up a P09c this week, took it to the range today. Sights are spot on. Mine is wearing a 7.0 in the front and a 8.5 in the rear.
I will be changing them out tho, the stock sights with their little greenish dots are too hard for me to see reliably. Going to fiber front, black rear like the rest of my EDC guns.
