Lefty and a decocker
« on: February 21, 2025, 11:50:26 AM »
So my current home defense pistol is a P10C, for a couple of reasons I'm considering switching to a metal framed CZ, I'm leaning to SP-01 Tactical for my home defense and range gun and 75 D PCR as my carry pistol. So my question is from a southpaw that has always had ambi safeties on his 1911's and HK in the past, seeing that the PCR is only set up for the right handed shooters is the decocker lever easy enough to use as a lefty to make it a viable option? I understand the practice needed to transition and become proficient from the human perspective, why I'd like to switch both of my most used pistols to the same platform. I'll be visiting the local shops and would like to have some basis of what I'm looking at before handling the pistols in person. I've searched the forum and from what I've seen having a ambi safety installed on a compact CZ isn't a reasonable option. Thanks in advance.

Its not like using a safety. Load, decock and holster.  When you draw the first shot is double action then subsequent shots are SA. If you reload and keep shooting just release the slide and you are shooting SA again.  If you need to decock before holstering you can use your right hand to decock.  Draw fast, holster slow.  The on,y time O could see you needing to decock with your left hand is if your right is injured/disabled.  I have done it when I practice weak side manipulation but I think the need would be rare.

But if I am missing something let me know.

I'm right handed but I can easily maintain a good left handed grip on the gun while using the left thumb to decock the hammer. This works very well with my CZ's due to the design of the decocking lever.

Thank you, this is what I was wanting to know. I feel somewhat educated to be able to shop now.
