CZ 527 17 Hornet Magazine Issues
« on: May 18, 2025, 12:39:09 AM »
I have a 17 Hornet that I have been only shooting rounds to fire form. I have not shot any factory rounds from this rifle. I am using Remington brass, 7.5 primer, and 12 grains of 1680.

The rounds would chamber ok but  the bolt was a little hard to close ( but this is expected when fire forming rounds).

Now I am using fireformed brass that have been neck sized using a Redding neck bushing die and a .189 bushing.

The rounds seem to be getting hung up now. They don't go in the chamber all the way, unless I sit there and fidget with the rifle.

I have two magazines that it does this with.

Anyone else have this problem?

My understanding is that 1.350" is the extreme maximum length. The "trim length" is actually about 0.020" shorter. And then the case is allowed to "grow" to the Max overtime.

But of course, all the manuals that discuss this concept do not cover this cartridge !

What does the "sit and fidget" involve? Are the rounds still partly in the mag when they hang up?

A photo of the jam might help.

No the round is in the chamber some then it stops.  I then turn the and shake the handle a little and push the bolt in until the round is fully in the chamber.

How do you post a picture on here?
