527 American review
« on: October 30, 2001, 06:22:17 AM »
Finallly got to shoot my 527 yesterday while taking a break from turkey hunting. The fit and function were perfect. The best factory trigger I have encountered in ages. Topped with a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9X40 scope I only had one type of cartridge. Federal Classic 50 gr. HP and only a short range of 50 yds.  After zeroing the scope I was able to group a 4 shot group covered with a dime. This rifle is most surely a keeper. My only negative is the safety works backwards for me..

Most North American shooters always have this comment, Brownell's(gunsmithing goods) has various solutions for the CZ-452,CZ-550,CZ-550 Magnum but nothing yet for the CZ-527. Simplest way to remember the CZ safe is comparing it to cocking a hammer on a single action pistol: in the rear---cocked and ready to fire.

Glad for your first CZ rifle acquisition.

Thanks - customers ask about our CZ rifles, and it's nice to hear from someone actually shooting one.

Hello.  I bought one of these a few years ago when you could get them with the synthetic stock.  My 527 is in .223 Remington, has no sights, came with the Warne Rings and is topped with a 3X9 Leupold compact.

I was able to set the trigger such that it's very, very nice; maybe not as nice as a Remington 700, but it's sure "good enough."

With it's preferred load, Winchester/Combined Technology
50 gr BallisticSilvertip, it'll drop 3 rnds into 3/8" @ 100 yards from a rest on a still day...when I do my part.  I've not yet found any handload nor factory load that groups quite so well and have used this load to cleanly take javelina and turkey for the table.

Like others, I'd prefer that the safety operated just the opposite of what it does, but I can live with it.

Best.
