If you've got one, this probably would be a good thread to talk about it.

Sorry if I got your hopes up ;) .

Well, since nobody else has replied, I'll throw my hat into the ring.  I'm not nearly as experienced w/rifles as others on the board here though, so bare with me.

I purchased a 527 Lux about a month or so ago in .223.  I must say that it is very accurate right out of the box.  Another big plus is the adjustable trigger (for take-up, over travel and pull weight) and the adjustable set trigger.

The first time I took it to the range, I used the set trigger (which was set pretty light from the factory).  However, since then I played w/the trigger adjustments and now have (what to my inexperienced hand) is the sweetest trigger I've ever had the pleasure to pull.

Fit and finish is quite good, and the look of the walnut stock is superb (I think anyway).  I've found that I really like the Bavarian pattern stock over the American style, but the nice thing about the American is that it comes w/the scope rings.

I have had it for about 8-9 years, it has taken coyotes out at 250 yards, badgers, gophers, marmits, ect, and painted some pretty targets...... While heavier than the 527's (also used to have one of those in .222 back when they had twin triggers) I love it

Believe me Doc when saying the new triggers on the CZ-527 are even better(I've had both model). The stock on the CZ-527 is better proportioned for that type of cartridge.

I've seen your post for the sample gun and seen pricing on a model(auctioned on the web) that had been beaten up(beautiful stock but cracked and repaired only to be fonctional)and starting bidding was going for a lot more than yours.

Having had the block style single set trigger on my ZKK's I love having the single set trigger. The block style is esthetically ugly but it works flawlessly. These triggers do get lots of attention by others when shooting. While neat looking & novel... the twin triggers is one of the reasons I sold the .222 CZ. It also had the European style butter knife bolt which I never did care much for. (personal preferance.) finally the last reason I sold it, is that I have several .22 related calibers & unless you reload, it is much cheaper for me to shoot my .223's. Yes I know that theoretically the .222 is inherently more accurate & ballisticaly stable), but my .223's do just fine for me.

Here is a link to some veiws onthe 527 .223's 7 theor triggers: www.benchrest.com/wwwboar...ead=165636

I know what you mean FF, after handling the old twin set triggered 527's & and the new shoe horn style single set triggers. I quite liked the shoe horn style SINGLE set trigger much better. With out handling both together, I would almost say this latest one is better balanced & tighter over all.

It is just soooo cool to see the CZ/Brnos finally receiving their credit do them. Like you, I started originally shooting them years ago in Canada , before anyone knew much about them in the states. From the day I first shot my buddies Model-1 .22 LR, I was hooked & bought my first one shortly there after. Since then I bought as many as I could find & afford. I mostly have old world Brnos & only have one CZ at the present time. (Now two, just bought a Scout .22 LR)

I have often said, "CZ (Brno): You can spend more, you can spend less; but you can't buy more for less."

I just picked one up a few weeks ago and waiting for the scope and rings to arive.

I will give a range report when I get it together.

As for the rifle, It is SWEET! :D   It seems to be taking to darn long for the scope to arrive.

The kevlar stock was a pleasant surprise, much stiffer than I expected.

Fit and finnish are A+

This is one sturdy rifle!

From what I remember a mere 250 units were made(assembled in U.S. & sold thru CZ/USA, everybody is talking about this gem but nobody has seen(held & cuddle)this new baby. With that H-S precision stock you can't go wrong. A much wiser choice than those laminated. Glad one of our registered member did get one, and will give us first hand account on this rifle.

All the best,

.223 Varmint

Well my scope has arrived today and I decided to go with another BSA scope.  The 8-32x44 works really well on my 452 Lux, I decided on the 4-16x40 for the 527 varmint.  Now I'm waiting for the rings to get here.  I ordered them from J&G Sales.

Has anyone else ever delt with J&G Sales?

As soon as the rings arrive, I will be at the range and give a range report that day

Well, the rings have finally arrived, and I went to the range to see what this little rifle would do.  I was not disapointed !!!  I had put about 150 rounds through it, well let me rephrase that, I put 100 rounds through it and about 5 other guys at the range put the other 50 through it.  (FUN HAD BY ALL)

On with the report

I was using blackhills remanufactured ammo 55grn fmj,  and let me tell you this little rifle was shooting .70inch groups after the first 10 shots at 100 yards.  As the day went on the groups varried never more than 1inch, but that was due to me and not the rifle. My best group was turned in at the end of my shooting session.  .55inch at 100yards, and I know if i play around with it more I and the groups will get better.

I think I turned 5 guys on to the CZ Varmint, none of them could belive what the rifle was doing out of the box.

This weekend I going to try for 200 and 300 yards, I'll keep you posted.

Let me know if anyone wants more info.
Matt

I wonder if this rifle will stabilize 62 gr bullets. I know that the twist is 1 in 12, but it has a 24" barrel so in theory it might. When you get a chance can you try it out. If the rumors are true about the future rifles having 1 in 9, how will I be able to tell in the store which one I'm holding.

Thanks,
Alex.

Well, I bought some Black Hills .62grn btfmj and some Federal .69grn competition bthp.  This rifle does not like either one of them, it does not stabilize the bullet.  I was getting 8 inch groups with the .62grn and 4 inch groups with the .69grn.
This was at 100 meters

So far it likes the .50grn V-MAX (Black Hills) the best.  I have repeatedly shot one hole 3 shot groups with them at 100 meters.  Let me tell ya "it shoots"

I'll keep you posted on anything else I try

I've had my Varmint for 6 months now and have put it through the ringer and it has showed it's true colors. The bleep thing is just about perfect. 52gr. Hornady hpbt. and 26gr.s of H-335 will print less than a 1/4" all day long. Crow and coyote populations have diminished when this rifle came out of the case. If you can get one BUY IT, if it's anything like mine you'll love it.....Smallbore
