CZ at the IDPA Nationals...

Got the latest IDPA Tactical Journal in the mail this afternoon.  It contained a review/summary of the 2005 IDPA Nationals.

Guns used:  9 Berettas, 4 CZz (75, P-01, SA, and 85 Combat),  91 Glocks ( of which 44 were Glock 34s!), 27 Kimbers, a bunch of 1911s of various stripes (Maybe 40, all told), 5 Springfield XD9s, and only 3 SIGs

I haven't found the scores yet, just cryptic comments about who won what:

David Sevigny had the best (lowest) score, shooting a Glock in Stock Service Pistol.

Ernie Langdon was top Custom Defensive Pistol.

Daniel Horner was top Enhanced Service Pistol.

Jerry Miculek won Enhanced Service Revolver.

Jerry Biggs was top Stock Service Revolver.

I would have liked to see scores and a description of the courses of fire.  Maybe it'll be on the website.

That 75 was my SAO converted Pre-B. I got to shoot in the same squad with Ernie Langdon and some other notables. What a great time I had, if you get the chance, go do it.

I shot the 85 Combat in Stock Service Pistol Sharpshooter.  I came in 3rd in my class.  The gun functioned flawlessly, much better than its owner!  :rolleyes

I used the CZ fiber front sight, a 15 pound Wolff hammer spring, and the CZ checkered wood grips.

19852, good to put a screenname with a face.  Did not realize you hung out here.  collinsk, did you come by the CZ demo bay at one point?  Now we gotta figure out who shot the P-01, and all 4 CZ shooters are accounted for! :D

I used the 75B SA, and got 4th Master ESP.  That was the match that coulda been.  I had an awesome first day and was .37 sec behind Rob after the first day, and we had shot the same stages, and we figured we were both about 1 sec behind Daniel, who had shot some different stages.  We had no clue Bob Vogal was in the mix.  Day 2 Rob shot pretty well but couldn't catch Bob or Daniel, and I did not have a good 2nd day and fell back a bit.  Oh well, thats racin.

I think Ernest shot a SW 1911.

Ernie is shooting with S&W I believe. Also with S&W is Dave Harrington who came in 10th I think [he was also in "my" squad]. What is remarkable about his performance at Nats was that he competed on a badly sprained ankle, painful to watch, he hobled from stage to stage shooting each stage hopping on his good leg. I offered to carry his bags for him [two large shooting bags] but he declined. He never complained of the pain or made excuses for dropping a shot and there was a lot of movement. I am proud to say he shoots at our local club.
It was good to meet you Matt. I enjoyed our conversation were you answered all my novice questions with great patience.

Matthew,

I did stop by the CZ demo bay on Saturday.  I had questions regarding trigger mods to my 75b backup gun.  Thanks for all your great advice.  I have shot the IDPA Nationals, 3 other major matches, and a plethora of club matches with ZERO malfunctions with my 85 Combat.
